Choudwar College is located in the industrial town of Choudwar, 08 km away to the north of Cuttack City. To its south, river Birupa and river Mahanadi flow down and the National Highway 54 and 5 run close by. Choudwar has a mythological and historical background. Legend says that the heap of earth, near the Central Jail, presents the ruins of the palace of King Birat of the Mahabharat period but scholars feel it to be a Buddhist relic. History reports that in the 10th century, A.D. King Yayati Keshari established his capital temporarily at Choudwar-Katak.
Choudwar College was established on the premises of the Kalinga Vidyapith in 1968 to cater to the needs of higher education of the locality. It collapsed as a baby in 1971. Then with renewed vigor and determination, the present Choudwar College had a phoenix rise on 16th August 1978 with the admission of Kumari Anjana Swain under the leadership of our Founder Sj Rajkishore Ram. Braving the initial hazard, the College started its classes with only 83 students and 07 lecturers (Sri Manmohan Samantaray, Sri Prakash Chandra Mohapatra, Mrs. Bharati Mahanty, Sri Sibanarayan Mishra, Mrs. Sulochan Dasray, Mrs. Basanti Balabantaray, Mrs. Sobharani Das ), one Clark (Sri Paramanda Sahoo), two peons(Sri Chintamani Das, Sri Surendra Sethi), one-night watchman(Sri Upadhaya) in the guest house building of Kalinga Savenska Company. The Science faculty of Choudwar College has been shifted to the main building during the session,1998-99.
Choudwar College, Cuttack is approved by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and approved by Utkal University.
Choudwar College, Cuttack courses are offered at various levels like Undergraduate Degree i.e Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Physics, Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.), Bachelor of Arts (BA) Philosophy, Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Zoology, Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Language laboratory:
A language laboratory is a dedicated space for learning where students access audio or audio-visual materials. They allow a teacher to listen to and manage student audio, which is delivered to individual students through headsets or in isolated sound booths. The program enhances linguistic skills while improving communication, with an emphasis on phonetics for language fluency.
THE LIBRARY :
The College Library is a Centrally Computerised one having reading room & book facilities, containing a good number of books arranged subject-wise in sections and sub-sections. The members of staff, students of the College, and any other person specially permitted by the Principal may use the Library.
Sports & Games:
In scientific and technological Civilization, we need people who are physically fit, mentally alert, and emotionally stable. So education should be holistic in directed instilling physical, mental, emotional, social, spiritual, and esthetic qualities. Physical education contributes not only to physical fitness but also to Physical efficiency, mental alertness and the development of various qualities necessary for a balanced human being. Physical education is a part of general education.
Ordinarily, Admission is allowed on the ground of merit and conduct of a student. Admission to the College cannot be claimed as a matter of right.
To impart high-quality education, general as well as job-oriented, and develop appropriate skills for solving real-life problems
