Tamil Nadu Dr J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University was established in 2012 to improve the fisheries sector of Tamil Nadu State. Institute of Fisheries Technology, Nagapattinam was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu with a budget provision of Rs.34.08 crore. Subsequently, the Institute of Fisheries Technology has been renamed as College of Fisheries Engineering considering the growing importance and emerging needs of engineering solutions in the fisheries sector. College of Fisheries Engineering is a constituent college of TNJFU and it is located at the coastal town of Nagapattinam along the Bay of Bengal. The college is first of its kind in the Country established in 2015 with the sole aim of developing engineering personnel for the fisheries industries. College is offering two Under Graduate (UG) professional degrees and two Post Graduate (PG) professional degree programs
