College of Dairy Science and Technology Mannuthy, Thrissur started its educational journey with the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences of Kerala Agricultural University. The Institute became a constituent college of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) when it was established in 2010. The College undertakes academic, research, extension and entrepreneurship activities in the animal production and the dairy sector. Through the years, the College of Dairy Science and Technology Mannuthy has made an extensive contribution for the development of the animal husbandry sector of the state. The experienced faculty of CDST Mannur use a combination of theory classes, assignments, practical sessions, presentations, seminars, and industrial visits to provide an invigorating learning environment. The College organizes a ten-day south India tour and a 23-day all-India tour to facilitate the students to visit the noteworthy Dairy and Food plants and other institutions across the county. The College encourages students to take part in co-curricular activities which improve their skills like arts and sports, student’s union activities, National Service Scheme, exhibitions, conferences, seminars, debates, etc.

The College is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), ICAR, and affiliated to Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University.

Course offered:

The College offers a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Dairy Technology, Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Dairy Technology, Dairy Microbiology, and Dairy Chemistry.

Infrastructure and facilities :

The College has an excellent Library that houses a large collection of scientific books, journals, research papers, publications, annual reports, and bound volumes of periodicals. 

Hostel Details:

Hostel facilities are limited. Students will be provided accommodation, as per the availability of accommodation in campus. Students who do not secure Hostel accommodation on campus are free to make their own arrangements outside. College of Dairy Science and Technology Mannuthy Infrastructure facilities are designed to provide a good learning environment to the students.

Admissions:

Admission to the B.Tech course is regulated by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations of Kerala (CEE) by conducting Kerala Engineering Entrance Exam (KEAM) and ICAR by conducting the AIEEA-UG entrance examination. Admission to the M.Tech course is through the entrance examination and the interview conducted by the University.25% of the seats shall be reserved for the eligible candidates sponsored by the ICAR based on the All India Entrance Examination conducted by them. All the information regarding the College of Dairy Science and Technology Mannuthy Application process is available on the University website.

Placements:

The Parent University has a full-fledged Student Counseling and Placements Centre to organize the campus placements at the constituent colleges. The Centre organizes counseling sessions and career-oriented, educational consultancy programs for the students. The campus recruitment process is held every year for final-year students of the courses offered by the College. Almarai in UAE, Dynamix in Pune, and MILMA are the major recruiters.

Campus

The term ‘Kolahalamedu’ means ‘meadow of sound’- due to the constant sound made by the wind. Kolahalamedu is just 5 km from Vagamon in Idukki District. The pine plantation is the main attraction of Kolahalamedu. The nearest airport is the Cochin International Airport. From there, we can take a bus, car, or cab to Vagamon. Kottayam happens to be the nearest railway station to Vagamon, at 64 km away. Madurai is another railway station located 149 km away from Vagamon. Buses/taxis/ cabs are available for covering the rest of the journey. NH 49, NH 47 A, and NH 220 is the main lifeline that connects Vagamon with other destinations of Kerala by road.
