The College of Engineering at Adoor was established in October 1995 by the Institute of Human Resource Development (IHRD), a Kerala Government Corporation. Recruitment is based on the results of the All Kerala Joint Entrance Exams conducted by the Kerala Government Entrance Examination Comptroller. CEA is a center of academic excellence offering graduate programs in four disciplines to approximately 1,000 students. It offers technical education and courses in computer engineering, electronics and communications engineering, electrical engineering and electronics, and mechanical engineering. The university is affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU), which is known worldwide for its academic excellence.CEA is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education in New Delhi. 

College stretches beautifully over 30 acres of paradisiacal landscape. The university has an excellent infrastructure with a comprehensive central library, departmental libraries, well-equipped laboratories, and a laboratory. The CEA also has a modern data center with high-speed internet access. The university's electricity needs are covered by an 11-kV substation with a 75-kW backup generator. Since its first year of incorporation, the CEA has achieved many milestones in academic and extracurricular activities. College of Engineering Adoo is an Autonomous Institute, and is Affiliated with the University of Dr A P J Abdul Kalam Technical University, (DR. APJ.AKTU. Lucknow), and Approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), College of Engineering, Pathanapuram was established in 2011. It is one of the fourteen Professional institutions under the Co-operative Academy of Professional Education. established by the Government of Kerala. The AICTE has given approval for the conduct of the courses.

The IT facility consists of 60 fully networked desktop computers supported by a 10Mbps internet facility provided by the NMEICT project MHRD Govt of India. The data center also has a WLAN access service for students and employees. The control panel is efficiently powered by an inverted power supply system. 

Hostel Facility: 

A dormitory is available to accommodate university students. We have a full-service women's dormitory on campus. The college has also approved male dormitories. 

Transportation: 

Six college buses operate for the convenience of students and staff. The University has regular bus services to and from Bharanicavu, Pathanapuram, Ayoor, Punalur, Kundara, and Kottarakara to the University Headquarters.PTA, College of Engineering, Pathanapuram operates university buses for staff and students. A fleet of university buses connects various university locations and transports students and staff.
