Poonjar College of Engineering was founded in 2000 by the Institute of Human Resource Development (IHRD), an autonomous educational institution of the Government of Kerala. The IHRD is governed by the Board of Trustees, which consists of the Honorable Minister of Education of the State of Kerala, as Chair, and the Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Government of Kerala, as Vice-Chair. IHRD is based on the principle of “think global, act local” and its affiliated institutions are located in different places in Kerala to achieve this. Poonjar College of Engineering is scenically located in a peaceful hilly area with clean air and greenery which allows every student to pursue their studies with devotion.

Infrastructure and Facilities:

College of Engineering Poonjar has a large and well-maintained campus and offers a tranquil learning environment. The buildings are modern and equipped with the latest technology from the College of Engineering Poonjar, which facilitates teaching and teacher development. Library: 

College of Engineering Poonjar Poonjar has a well-stocked library and information center with many interesting books including technical manuals on various subjects, various magazines, journals, and newspapers at national and international levels. The library has a collection of over 10,000 volumes of books. There are photocopying and internet facility in the center. Besides an e-book center having about 500 titles is a part of the library and information center. The library has two functional parts. Books are issued for a period of 14 days to students. It can be extended by another 14 days. More than 200 readers can be in the library at the same time. The fully automated and modernized library includes a digital library area and internet access. The center provides information services such as news, targeted information dissemination, e-learning, etc. The library is open on weekdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Transport: 

The college is located in the eastern part of the county, but our bus management system makes getting to the university easier. The university's PTA manages the operation and maintenance of the buses. The college provides sufficient transport facilities for employees and students. There are currently four buses operating on different routes. Considering the number of students from different places, we increase the number of trips every year. To organize it well, we regularly buy new buses. Now we operate daily trips to Kidangoor, Pala, and Ponkunnam via Kanjirappally and Erattupetta. Bus schedules are changed regularly to reduce crowds and provide convenience for staff and students. The polite and friendly behavior of the crew is guaranteed. 

Hostels: 

Considering that almost half of our students are girls and most of them are from remote areas, the College, with the help of the PTA, has arranged comfortable and sanitary accommodation for all students in need at an affordable price. At the PTA of the college, there is a women's shelter "NILA". The dormitory caretaker is a college professor and the day-to-day running of the dormitory is handled by the resident's nanny. Several ranks, including a night watchman, ensure the safety of the students. The learning time is part of the fixed timetable of the dormitory. The dormitory works on a cost-sharing basis and the canteen menu is created by the student union. Discipline is maintained with the help of the shelter committee. 

Canteen: 

The college canteen has a homely atmosphere, a variety of delicacies touched by the flavors of the house, cooked to perfection and served with great courtesy. Drinks are available at the college cafeteria at affordable prices. Adequate seating is available to accommodate students and staff even during busy times. The canteen is currently managed by the PTA for quality and hygiene reasons.
