The College of Veterinary and Animal Science, Bikaner started functioning on 16 August 1954. The premises of the college are spread over an area of 200 hectares of land, situated on the erstwhile Ganga Avenue, near Lalgarh Palace. The college possesses well-equipped laboratories an adequate number of classrooms, a requisite number of hostels, stores, housing for poultry, emu, and livestock, a workshop, an auditorium, an NCC wing, a guest house, a faculty house, a bank, horizontally spread departments, clinical facilities, library, computer lab, canteen, and 1 GBPS internet facilities.

CVAS Infrastructure and Facilities

CVAS HOSTEL FACILITY

There are six hostels, five for boys and one for girls. Two hostels are for UG boys, two for PG boys, and one for internees having full-fledged facilities within them including toilets, kitchen mess, common rooms, guest rooms, etc. These hostels also have playgrounds for football, hockey, volleyball, basketball, TT, Kabaddi, etc. Two tennis courts do exist in the Vijay Bhawan complex.

CVAS GUEST HOUSE FACILITY

The college has an old guesthouse of 7 rooms with kitchen, dining, and reception areas with the sprawling landscape around it. Recently, a Faculty house consisting of 10 rooms, kitchen-pantry, dining areas, meeting hall, etc. has also been commissioned.

CVAS LIBRARY

A capacious library located at the Bijey Bhawan Palace building has photocopying, computer, and Internet facilities with the following collection: In this way, the Library has built up a very good collection of books to provide the college community enough to meet their various information needs and purposes. The library collection consists of about 37,446 publications including textbooks, reference books, manuals, advances, encyclopedias, dictionaries, and annual reports. During the year under report, 325 books, as well as 121 Reports/Newsletters and pamphlets, were added to the library collection. The library subscribes to a large number of journals (foreign and Indian), magazines, and newspapers.

CVAS Auditorium

College Of Veterinary And Animal Sciences CVAS has an auditorium facility for events and seminars.

CVAS Sports

Facilities for outdoor and indoor games and T.V. rooms exist in the hostels. The college students participate in the university inter-college sports tournaments.

CVAS GYMNASIUM FACILITY

Gymnasium

In the gymnasium, 4 station multi-gym, roller trade mill, cross trainer, orbit bike, standing and sitting twister, pro-curl bench, and abdominal pro-bench are provided for Veterinary students. This will prove the proverb “Health is Wealth” to the students.

CVAS Scholarships

Only the candidates who are bonafide residents of Rajasthan will be eligible for scholarships

1. University Merit Scholarships

2. Scholarships offered by the government of India through the director of college education, the government of Rajasthan by advertisement in the newspapers

3. The following scholarships are awarded by the director, of primary and secondary education, government of Rajasthan, Bikaner

4. Post-Metric Scholarships to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes/Nomadic Tribes

5. Scholarship to the Children and Wives of the personnel of Defense Services killed during the war against China in 1962 and Pakistan in 1965 and 1971. Application forms for scholarships are obtainable from the office of the District Soldiers Board, which should be submitted along with the entitlement card.

6. Scholarship available through the Government of India

7. Freeship and Half-freeship In each class poor and deserving candidates are offered full freeship to the extent of 10% or half freeship to the extent of 20% and these are available to M.V.Sc. and Ph.D. students as well.

8. Scholarship from Other Sources: Mrs. Kusum Rathore Memorial Trust Scholarship for Undergraduate/Postgraduate students.

9. ICAR Junior Research Fellowship, Senior Research Fellowship for which direct application to ICAR is made when advertised.

10. Thesis contingency grant: The thesis contingency amount is also made available to M.V. Sc.students @ Rs. 5001- Ph.D. (C.W. students @ Rs.800/- with the following eligibility conditions.
