The society was founded in the year 2003 under the chairmanship of Mr. Kishore Jadwani & Secretary, Mr. Harjeet Singh Hura. There was a vision to become one of the best Institutes that should be recognized far and wide for excellence in teaching, research and public service. Chairman and secretary of the society, both are graduates in Pharmacy from Sagar University, Madhya Pradesh. In the year 2004, the society started Columbia College of Pharmacy to conduct Diploma in Pharmacy course in a rented building at Raipur which was then shifted to the present location in 2005. In the year 2006, the society laid down the stone of the Columbia Institute of Pharmacy to conduct B. Pharmacy course. It is the intentions and visionary mindset of the society members that within a span of just six years i.e. by 2010, the society comes up with Columbia Group of Institution with a campus of about 25 acres of land and more than 4 Lakh sq. ft. of construction area, and the expansion and diversification is still in progress. At present, Columbia Group of Institutions conducts B.E., MBA, B.Ed., and B. Nursing courses apart from pharmacy. All the courses are affiliated by Govt. Universities and Professional bodies of India.

The Institute of Pharmacy is located in Village Tekari, near Vidhan Sabha, Raipur. The goal of the Institute is not only to excel in the field of education but also to conduct social and charitable outreach programmes. At present, courses conducted by the Columbia Institute of Pharmacy are B. Pharm., M. Pharm., and PhD. The institute seeks to bridge the ever-widening gap between modern pharmaceuticals and traditional drug systems. Towards this, our Institute frequently conducts various Workshops, seminars & faculty development programmes. The Institute has also bagged research grants from various state & central organizations such as CCOST, AICTE, DBT, DST and ICMR.

Columbia Institute of Pharmacy (CIP) courses are offered at various levels like Diploma Degree i.e. Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm), etc., Undergraduate Degree i.e Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.), Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) Lateral Entry etc., Postgraduate Degree i.e. Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) Pharmacology, Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) Pharmaceutics and many more. Facilities and Infrastructure

Residential Accommodations:

Hostel facilities are provided for students. There are two hostels for boys and one for the Girls (Degree, PG & Phd. students). Each hostel is self contained with amenities such as a reading room, hygienic kitchen, and dining hall. The Chief Warden of hostels is the in charge of hostel premises.

Hostel accommodation will be provided for all the students and residence in the hostels is obligatory. The students, who opt to stay with their parents/guardians in the city, may be allowed to do so with the permission of the principal.

Library:

A brief of facilities provided by Columbia Institute of Pharmacy (CIP) is presented here. As the library plays a vital role in the collection, development and dissemination of scientific and technical information to meet the present and future academic and research needs of varied users, let us start by describing it.

Presently, the Library at Columbia Institute of Pharmacy houses more than 10000 volumes of books, 45 Project Reports & subscribes about 31 printed national & international periodicals and 08 local and national newspapers.

Auditorium:

Our institute is decorated by spacious seminar hall to organise seminars, conferences & meetings which has all the accessories required to conduct various programmes.

Computer Labs:

The society has developed a beautiful institution that is well-equipped, well-facilitated and technically designed according to the norms of the regulatory bodies (PCI). Separate building construction is developed for D. Pharm & B. Pharm, which spreads over 5 acres of the area This campus has well designed Laboratories, Seminar Hall, Class room, Girls common room, Machine room, a Sophisticated instruments room, Library with all necessary books and scientific journals with internet facility, for all round development of the students. The campus also has a beautiful playground with all the sports facilities.

Animal House:

The institution has the animal house approved by CPCSEA, New Delhi. The Institution has received breeding license. Columbia Institute of Pharmacy has conventional double storey animal house facility registered by CPCSEA (IAEC), Government of India. It is envisaged to provide pre clinical testing in conformity with national and international regulatory guidelines. The animal house will facilitate the availability of healthy and homogeneous animals for routine teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate studies as well as for research / outsourced testing.

Medical Facilities:

Janpragrati Education Society is committed towards social cause. The management believes in serving mankind and financially weaker people. Keeping in view the objective of serving the poor and underprivileged, JPES has arranged a Medical Practitioner who visits Institution every Saturday. Free medicines are supplied to the villagers on the same day.Medical room is available in our institute campus.Ecco Van is available in working hours for medical emergency service.

Medicinal plants garden:

A medicinal plants garden covering a total area of 1000 sq. meters has been developed. More than 100 Genera of various medicinal plants have already been planted. The plants grown in this garden are useful in the practical classes of Pharmacognosy and other subjects. This developed medicinal plants garden provides a strong impetus for herbal drug research and for the training of our postgraduate students and research scholars.

Classroom:

The classroom for M. Pharm has been specially designed. The classroom is equipped with a permanently mounted LCD projector, air conditioner and carpeted floor. This enables an interactive discussion between faculty and students.

Sports Facilities:

(A) Outdoor Games:

The outdoor game facility is equipped with separate cricket, Volley Ball & Basket Ball grounds. Handball, Kabaddi, and Kho-Kho are also organised from time to time.

(B) Indoor Games:

The indoor game facility is equipped with separate Table Tennis, Carom Hall, and Wooden Badminton courts is constructed to instil sportsmanship among the students.
