Facilities and Infrastructure

Cooch Behar College Library plays a central role in the teaching and learning of the college. Our library shares information through our collection, services, technologies, and staff. Our library offers both print and electronic resources to enhance your information experience. We are committed to collecting materials and making them findable, usable, and accessible to teachers, staff, and students.

The library has a rich collection of approximately 31,600 plus books, valuable reference books, journals, educational CDs/DVDs, and accessible e-books, e-journals, and other resources available to its patrons. The library has a well-stocked career counseling corner with books on rehabilitation and entry-level training programs. The university administration has opened a reading room and a computer center in the library since the academic session (2006-2007). It is the focal point of academic activities for all UG courses.

The library is open from 10:30 am. until 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturdays, A book bank is also open to students. The library completed the automation process with KOHA ILMS and launched an online catalog (OPAC) to access the library database..

The college organizes various cultural programs like Sarasvati puja, Fresher's Welcome, Holi Festival Celebration, College Foundation Day, etc.

The college has sports fields and facilities for outdoor and indoor games and the Physical Education Department also has a Multi Gym with Treadmill and High Jump Kit.

In addition to classroom work, students actively participate in various sports practices both at the inter-university level, within the university, and at the university's annual sports meets. Apart from sportsmen, there are many women who are also involved in sports.

We have a sports department with a well-equipped gymnasium, a table tennis table, a treadmill for aerobic activities, and a multipurpose room with enough equipment for the physical training of students and teachers to meet the current needs of students. Our college has a playground that hosts various sports-related activities, games, and cultural activities like football, cricket, handball, volleyball, badminton tournament, and athletic meets and is also used by the student union to organize annual social (cultural festival), Basontotsav, Fresher's Welcome, Sarasvati Puja, and many other similar programs. Our playground also hosts events related to sports and culture, as well as various fairs organized by the state. The student common room has facilities for the Charles Board for student entertainment. The university also encourages students to practice yoga and celebrated Yoga Day. The open corridors and yards of the facility are used for this purpose.

Placements

Various scholarship schemes implemented by the Government of West Bengal such as Kanyashree, Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Scheme, and Student Credit Card Scheme have enabled students from economically weaker families to take various career-oriented courses in addition to the general education program.

The university administration is always sincerely committed to meeting the needs of students with financial difficulties. The college provides financial support to poor students through various scholarships from the government. However, in addition to the support based on the state system, the college offers free (either semi-free or completely free depending on the economic status of the students) education to a large number of students who could not use any of their funds every year. Almost 10% of students received free education each year. Overall, 58% of students use different scholarship schemes. The university also offers financial aid from the Student Support Fund to students in need.
