The Cusrow Wadia Institute of Technology, Pune was started by the Modern Education Society, Pune. The Society itself was founded by Late Prin. V. K. Joag, an eminent educationist, and the Late Sir Cusrow Wadia, an industrialist of repute. The Institute made a humble beginning in 1938 with the setting up of the Department of Applied Electricity. Since then the Institute has made rapid progress and today it is a full-fledged Polytechnic with multifarious activities under its umbrella. The milestones are the 1938 Establishment, 1963 Silver Jubilee, 1988 Golden Jubilee, and 1998 Diamond Jubilee, Thus, the Institute has completed 83 years of its yeomen services for the cause of Technical Education.

Workshop by the Institute

The institute also organizes various workshops to give practical exposure to the students which include, Machine Shop, Turning Shop, Welding Shop, Sheet Metal Shop, Fitting Shop, Plumbing Shop, Carpentry Shop, Central Store, Pattern Making Shop, Electrical Section, Moulding Shop, Black Smithy Shop, and CNC Centre

Residential Accommodations:

The College provides Hostel Accommodation on the premises for boys and girls. Hostels are equipped with all modern amenities conveniences and comforts. The rooms are well-ventilated and suitably furnished. A new hostel is constructed with an independent facility block containing a separate mess and reading halls for boys and girls. The old girls’ hostel can accommodate 91 girls, and the new hostel can provide accommodation to 352 boys and 264 girls.

Round-the-clock security is provided to both hostels and it is under CCTV surveillance. Dr. Prakash N. Chaudhary, Vice Principal of Ness Wadia College of Commerce are the Wardens of Gents and Ladies Hostel respectively. The College Hostel, located within the college campus, consists of two blocks, one each for boys and girls. It is a residence hostel for full-time graduate and postgraduate students admitted to CWIT. All community areas like the dining room, common room, recreation room, washroom, etc., are provided separately for boys and girls.

Library:

The library is the heart of an Institution.” -Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, 2nd President of India. The Library at CWIT, Pune is a huge support to the Institute's march towards its mission-"To Spread Technical Education". It strives to connect the outstanding facility to brilliant students to the Knowledge Pool.

Auditorium:

The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars. Assembly hall for cultural activities.

Sports Facilities:

The college has a Spacious playground for sports. The students are motivated by the Institute provides facilities for practice. All kind of sports materials is supplied to the students without taking any charges from them The coaching is provided to cricket, kabaddi, volleyball, basketball & badminton team every year. The Institute provides coaching to the other teams on demand. The coaching period is generally a one-month duration for all events.

Admission

First Year to Post SSC Diploma Admission is a Centralized Procedure. The Centralized Admission Procedure (CAP) is carried out as per the guidelines of the Director of Technical Education, Mumbai, Govt. of Maharashtra. The schedule or Centralized Admission Process (CAP) is notified by DTE, M.S. After the CAP rounds, admissions at vacant seats are filled at Institute Level.

Placements

The placement section of the institute provides training in various areas to the students. It includes Aptitude Tests, preparation of a CV, Interview Techniques, Team Building, etc. The institute has established a very close liaison with the industry for the practical/employment of students/project work. Many representatives of the industry deliver lectures at this institute under the Quality Improvement Programmes and also conduct campus interviews.
