D.D. Shinde Sarkar College was established in 1988 by Dr. Abasaheb Shinde, founder of Saraswati Shinde Education Society. It is affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur, and accredited by NAAC with a B grade. The college started when the education department of the Government of Maharashtra graciously granted permission to the society to begin an English medium Arts and Commerce College at Kolhapur in the academic year 1990-91.
