The students had to go to Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, and Aurangabad for higher education. Only rich family students were able to seek such education. The visionary and education-loving people from Latur came together and decided to start a college.

In the year 1961, the foundation of the Dayanand Education Society was made for the students of the Latur district. In a few years, Dayanand College came forward as a reputed college. The student's strength was raising day by day. As per the need of time, an independent commerce college was established in the year 1970. Expert teachers and visionary dignitaries worked hard to make the college well-renowned in the state. The merit of independent colleges is touching the sky now.

Library

The college library has been enriched in terms of the availability of reference books and textbooks. The library has Junior College books 9833 and Senior College books 37745 (A total of 475878 books) for the College with 38 Journals, periodicals, and 27 newspapers. The library provides an INFLIBNET facility for faculty by providing a user id and password which is shared with students also if they need them. The library has provided 6000+ e-journals and 31,35,000 + e-books on online databases on various subjects. The accession to books is computerized. All the books have barcode stickers. Separate library cards are issued to all students for issuing textbooks, reference books, and journals. They are issued on identity cards only. Two separate computers are for library users for the students and teachers to search the book via OPAC in the library.
