Delhi School of Management (DSM) was established in 2009 with Delhi College of Engineering (DCE) acquiring a University status, being officially renamed as Delhi Technological University (DTU) through legislation passed by the Delhi State Assembly. DSM envisages developing socially responsible and ethically driven innovative managers and future leaders by providing excellent world-class education. DSM was established with a vision of inculcating a penchant for innovation, research, and experimentation in aspiring managers. DSM aims at extending the seven-decade-long legacy of DCE (now DTU) by incubating and developing managers and leaders, who are adept at identifying pertinent and critical business problems and applying their technical skills and competencies in solving those issues. In order to train its students to face the challenges of information and a knowledge-driven work environment, DSM provides them with the Triple E: Education, Experience, and Exposure. DSM strives to inculcate in its student's managerial competence through specialized knowledge and skills in order to fulfil its role as a vibrant and model institution capable of imparting quality education in the area of Management Studies. DSM envisions developing a knowledge society by providing equitable access to the masses and broadening the span of their participation in higher education.

The curriculum is designed to meet the requirement of present-day technology-intensive business functions. The students are equipped with management knowledge to deal with the complex global and dynamic business environment. Internships and field projects are an integral part of the curriculum. DSM also encourages students to form committees/forums which undertake different activities.

The emphasis is on the right combination of classroom learning, hands-on experience in the corporate world and sharing the rich experience of the practitioners. In order to provide students with the required exposure, DSM brings them in close contact with industry executives and eminent academicians through a series of lectures, sponsoring students to conferences and seminars, and facilitating their participation in papers/ case studies competitions. Overall DSM aims to develop and inculcate knowledge, skills and the right attitude with responsibility, commitment, professionalism, and moral & ethical standards among the students.

Facilities and Infrastructure:

The DSM has a sprawling campus that is well-maintained and provides a serene environment for learning. The buildings are modern and equipped with state-of-the-art technology, XXXXXX making it easier for students to learn and faculty to teach. The classrooms of DSM, lecture halls, and labs are spacious, comfortable, and designed to provide an excellent learning experience. The library is also outstanding, with a vast collection of books, online resources, and knowledgeable librarians.

Library:

Library System consists of a Central Library and 15 departmental libraries which collectively support the teaching, research and extension programmes of the Institute. All students, faculty members and employees of the Institute are entitled to make use of the Library facilities by taking library membership. The Library, besides having a huge collection of books on engineering, science and humanities offers library services through its various divisions. Initially set up in 1941, the Central Library moved to its new building in May 2004. To make the Delhi College of Engineering Library a 21st-century Knowledge Centre and to facilitate the transition of today’s engineering society to a knowledge base society of tomorrow, the knowledge generated by the faculty and students of DTU has been digitized and made accessible through Intranet or Internet. Along with the automation of library services, we have moved towards the digitization of library resources, so that the services of Virtual Libraries and Knowledge Centres may be provided parallel with the Traditional Library.

Computer Centre:

DSM has a well-equipped centralized computer centre to cater to the needs of students and faculty in the university. It is housed, in a magnificent state-of-the-art building having specialized laboratories to provide a variety of platforms and computing environments for UG, PG and research students.

The centre possesses a number of servers and over 200 Dell intel core i5 computer systems. In addition, the centre has more than 15 servers hosting different applications such as websites & portals, SPSS, Mathematics, MatLab, DNS, LDAP, proxy, Email services, Network Monitoring System (NMS) etc. and 4 SUN CAD workstations meant for use by UG/PG/PhD students for their projects and research work. The centre is fully networked through high-end intelligent Avaya & CISCO switches and possesses round-the-clock 1 Gbps NKN leased line, ISDN and a 50 Mbps leased line in a different pipe for the LAN wired & Wi-Fi connectivity for the academic, administrative and hostel blocks of the campus, with internet facilities on all the nodes. It also has the latest versions of compilers, scientific, technical and engineering software, training kits etc. for the students of different branches of engineering.

Delhi has all the opportunities to be developed as a major knowledge hub in the country with its deep-rooted tradition of quality education and research in science and technology. The present Concept Paper provides the broad framework for the development of Delhi as a major knowledge hub in India. The university together with its knowledge infrastructure significantly contributes to the development of knowledge enterprises.
