College of Art is an institution established in 1942 for advanced training in Visual Art (Creative and Applied) leading to the Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree of the University of Delhi, further providing advanced training in Master in Fine Art course. The objective of the syllabus/teaching programs in the College is to achieve an overall refinement of the student perception not confined to the skills of the profession alone but also to create the kind of intellect as well as emotional cultivation to arrive at a level of composite creativity and thought.

Infrastructure and Facilities

College of Art provides infrastructure facilities as per the required norms that consist of accommodation for studios, laboratories, and recreational areas and also include the Administrative Block, Computer Centers, and studio-cum-workshops for Offset, Metal Casting, Ceramics, Mural, Weaving and Printmaking, etc. Amenities and facilities for a Canteen, an art material Shop, and Sports/Games (Indoor & Outdoor) are provided for the students.

Library:

The Library of the College is accommodated in an area of 241.38 sq. m. It has an Extensive collection of approximately 17500 books on Fine Art, Applied Art, History of Art, Aesthetics, Methods & Materials, Sanskrit, Visual communication Fiction in languages such as Hindi, English, Urdu, Bengali, etc, leading Newspapers in English and Hindi, Periodicals (National and from abroad), a vast collection of Encyclopedias, etc. The Library Reading Room is open for the use of all Staff and Students of the college on all working days. All the students are eligible to become members of the lending section of the Library and avail of its facilities according to the prescribed rules. With an annual Budget of Rs.4 lakhs, the collection of books is becoming significant and worthy.

Canteen:

The facility of the canteen to serve lunch and snacks is available in the College.

Sports:

The College provides facilities for sports such as Table Tennis, Badminton, Volley Ball, Basket Ball, and Yoga along with amenities of a fully equipped Gymnasium. Inter-class tournaments are held annually and students also participate in Inter-college tournaments organized by the University of Delhi. The Sports Day of the College is held during the third Term of the academic session in February, mostly at the Karnail Singh Stadium in New Delhi which is booked well in advance for the purpose.

Admission

Candidates seeking admission to a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree should have passed the 12th or equivalent examination from a recognized board of education

For admission to the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) course, the candidate should have passed a Bachelor of Arts degree or any equivalent course from a recognized university.

In addition to BFA and MFA, the college also offers Post Graduate Diploma courses to Hearing and Speech impaired students with a limited seat intake.

Admission to all the courses offered by the College of Art is merit-based.

The application process for admission to the courses is conducted in the month of June-July every year.

Application forms can be submitted by post or in person to the college admission office.
