Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh came into existence under Punjab Govt’s Desh Bhagat University Act. The university derives its spirit of foundation from freedom fighter Sr. Lal Singh Ji; who fought for the independence of India and in 1972 his efforts of social work & his services in the freedom struggle were recognized by awarding him with “Tamra Patra” by Govt. of India, hence the name Desh Bhagat was contemplated. We are the 1st State Pvt. University in Punjab to have both 12B status & NAAC.

DBU Central Library is fully computerized and all the functions of DBU Central Library and Other Departmental Libraries operate through KOHA Integrated Library Software. The DBU Library divided in 05 Departments and 08 Council Libraries in their own School but all the School Libraries operated by DBU Central Library

Medical Facilities:

A holistic approach to serve the ailing humanity is among the foremost objectives of the Institution. In this direction, Desh Bhagat Ayurvedic Hospital has been established which is a unique multi-disciplinary hospital providing health care services through an integrated approach. The hospital has developed the specific approach for treating chronic & intractable diseases by using the famous Panchakarma therapy of Ayurveda & herbal medications, utilizing highly skilled and trained specialists through O.P.D. & I.P.D. services. Different therapeutic units like Panchkarma, Obesity Clinic, Kshar Sutra, Physiotherapy, Eye & Dental Unit are there along with special intensive care therapy units. Different facilities like an aseptic operation theatre, Special treatment of Bhagandar (Piles & Fistula-in-ano) without operation, special pathology lab., 24 hours emergency & ambulance facility, fully equipped, aseptic operation theatre, X-ray unit and many more are available. Consistent with its social welfare activities, the university has adopted 5 villages for healthcare activities.
