Dispur College was founded in 1978 by local visionaries on the outskirts of the beautiful hills of Narakasur, primarily to meet the needs of the children of parents working in the secretariat of the capital, Assam.  The College has now completed its glorious 44 years of existence with 12 academic departments in the Arts and Commerce majors and high-performing specialist departments in the BBA and BCA.  The College has always tried to create a strong bond between students and teachers in order to achieve better academic results and other related activities. The main goal of the institution is to facilitate higher education for the socio-economically disadvantaged segment of society. This has made the motto of the college a destination for a large number of students from different communities and regions of Northeast India. Between all social, cultural, and other activities, students work together to achieve the core goals of education. Despite some physical limitations, 2,000 students are currently studying in various disciplines at the college and are pursuing their goals in life.

Dispur College is affiliated with the University of Gauhati  University and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Govt. of Kerala. Recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC), and Accreditations by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

Dispur College offers Bachelor of Arts General (BA Gen.), Bachelor Of Commerce (B.Com.) Finance, Bachelor Of Commerce (B.Com.) Accounting, Bachelor Of Commerce (B.Com.) Management Studies, Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration), and Post Graduation Diploma in Computer Application (PGDCA).

Infrastructure and Facilities:

Dispur College has a large and well-maintained campus and offers a tranquil learning environment. The buildings are modern and equipped with the latest technology from Dispur College, which facilitates teaching and teacher development. The classrooms, units, and laboratories of Dispur College are spacious, comfortable, and designed to ensure the highest quality of education. The library is excellent too, with a huge range of books, online resources, and knowledgeable librarians.

Library: 

College Library is a learning resource center for users (students, teachers, and staff). Users can access a variety of resources including guides, manuals, magazines, and more. Indian and international authors. The library currently has a total of 17,340 (textbooks and encyclopedias) in various disciplines. The library has a total of 13 (thirteen) periodicals of various disciplines, general periodicals, and 7 (seven) daily newspapers. HS students receive 2 (two) reading cards (library cards) and T.Students in the DC semester receive 2 (two) (for passing a subject) and 3 (three) (for a major) reading cards for borrowing books from the library.

Canteen: 

The college canteen is much more than a place where food is sold. It is the center of interaction for the entire college community, a place where bonds are nurtured and good conversations are had. Dispur College, the cafeteria on the first floor of the lecture hall building, is one such place that has become a popular meeting place for both students and teachers. From the very beginning, Dispur College Mensa has responded to students' needs by providing them with delicious and hygienic food at a very affordable price. The canteen offers a varied offer, taking into account the daily needs of the taste buds and nutrition of the students, with a wide range of menus, separately divided into breakfast, lunch, and snacks with small meals.  Dispur College management closely monitors the quality of meals served and the cleanliness of the cafeteria, making them the focus of student interaction on campus.

Auditorium:

The college has an indoor auditorium with a professional sound system that seats around 300 people. This auditorium is very proud to have hosted many international seminars nationwide. In addition, the auditorium is equipped with an acoustic and sound system and offers space for around 300 people for campus-wide events. 

The auditorium is spacious, well-ventilated, and has semi-furnished rooms. This auditorium, where lectures, workshops, and seminars are regularly organized, has all the facilities to enhance the learning process and is a vast space able to meet the multiple needs of quality education.  

The purpose of the auditorium is to improve the quality of education. To make this possible, the auditorium has LCD projectors and screens for conducting lectures. It also offers many opportunities for our staff and students to show their talents in cultural activities. 

Conference Room: 

The college has a mini classroom with a professionally organized interactive computer panel with a 76-inch LED screen with a sound system and seating for about 50-60 people.  This lecture hall is a great help for the college as it is equipped with a modern sound system and has a capacity of about 60 people as it is able to host online courses, workshops, small departmental events, etc.  

Conference Room is a spacious, well-ventilated, and fully equipped room. A regular place for small lessons, workshops, and seminars, it has all the facilities to enhance the learning process and is a huge space that meets the various needs of quality education.  

Gymnasium: 

Dispur College has a long-back high school section. We have now remodeled our existing gym with modern fitness facilities, inaugurated on 28th August 2022 by the proud Assam Dhing, known as Hima Das. As we all know, exercise is good for you, and regular exercise can improve our lives and health.
