Dr. Ambedkar's Institute of Hospitality, Catering and Nutrition Management, Chandigarh was established in 1990 at Sarai Government Building, Area 32-A, by Union Territorial Administration, Chandigarh provides. This is one of 21 central IHMs established by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, and in association with NCHMCT to train young men and women to provide labor for the hotel industry. The Institute has been moved from the Sarai government building to its own building at Sector 42-D, Chandigarh. September 16, 1996. The new building of the Institute is located in the lush green surroundings of the beautiful town of Le Corbusier.

The buildings are modern and equipped with the latest technology from Dr. Ambedkar Institute of hotel management, catering, and Nutrition, which facilitates teaching and teacher development. Hostel:

The institute has a fully functioning dormitory complex on campus that can accommodate 102 boys and 102 girls.

All rooms are allocated based on NCHMCT JEE Ranking (first year) or NCHMCT Final Exam (second and third years) on a triplicate basis. The university-run dormitory clutters with the students themselves, allowing them to apply what they learn first-hand in the classroom. To help with dorm and miscellaneous students, there is a dormitory keeper as well as a student supervisor for male and female dormitories supported by the dormitory committee. Those who cannot secure accommodation in the Institute's dormitory due to lack of accommodation will be supported by the Institute to obtain private dormitory accommodation in a nearby locality on a shared basis.

Medical:

Working in the hotel industry requires not only a clear mind but also strong health. To ensure that students remain healthy throughout their studies, a qualified physician will visit the Institute every working day during lunch hours. In addition, doctors are also present at the dormitory after the opening hours of the institute. A standard first aid facility is also available to students in the hands-on lab.

Computer room:

The institute has a modern and well-equipped computer room that can accommodate 40 students at a time. Individual PC stations allow instructors to focus on individual student learning outcomes and provide remedial training to achieve the desired level of practice and perfection. LCD projector, multimedia, is an audio-visual aid widely used by lecturers to ensure a more effective learning environment for students. Basically, two computer labs are operating in the institute.
