Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola was established on 20th October, 1969 with its head-quarter at Akola.
Akola's Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth was founded on the 20th of October, 1969 with its main campus in Akola. The Agricultural University was named after Vidarbha's distinguished son Dr Panjabrao (alias Bhausaheb) Deshmukh who was the Minister for India's Agriculture.
The authority of the university extends to Vidarbha's 11 districts. In accordance with Maharashtra's University Act of 1983, the University is accountable for teaching and research in agriculture and extension education in addition to the foundation seed breeder and breeding program.
The Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth is endorsed to be approved by UGC (University Grant Commission)
The University provides four Bachelor's Degree programs in agricultural engineering and agriculture which include B.Sc. (Agri. ), B.Sc. (Hort), B.Sc. (Forestry), and B.Tech. (Ag. Engg. ) Engg.) two master's degrees in agricultural engineering and agriculture, M.Sc. (Agri.) and M.Tech. (Agri.Engg.) and doctoral degrees in agricultural engineering and agriculture.

Admissions to UG courses is on the basis of the merits of the previous exam. However, admission to PG courses as well as those in the Ph.D. course is on the basis of the Common Entrance Test that is conducted by the Maharashtra Agricultural Universities Examination Board (MAUEB), Pune. A few seats of the courses are filled with MAUEB's Common Entrance Examination to be administered through I.C.A.R., New Delhi.
