Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University, founded by the government of Uttar Pradesh in 2008, is a highly innovative program that proactively brings together academia and social responsibility under one roof. The powerful synergies of this fusion open up enormous possibilities for translating ideas into action, bringing science to earth and the laboratory to earth. The first of its kind in India, the university not only offers accessible and world-class higher education everything, but also meets the educational needs of people with physical disabilities in a homogeneous and sensitive academic environment.
University Grants Commission under Section 12 (B) of the UGC Act, an affiliation of its courses by various affiliated bodies such as Bar Council of India, Rehabilitation Council of India, Medical Council of India, All India Council for technical education, and Association of Indian Universities among others.
Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University, Lucknow courses are offered at various levels like Undergraduate Degree (i.e BBA, B.Tech, BA, B.Com, etc.), Postgraduate Degree (i.e MBA, MCA, MA, M.com, M.Sc., etc.), Law Degree (i.e. B.Com-LLB, LLM, etc.) and Ph.D. and many more. Residential Accommodation
Students are encouraged to come closer to being "a home away from home". Owing to the academic excellence of the DSMU, a large number of outstation students wish to be a part of its community. The University offers very spacious and well-ventilated hostels for boys and girls. Children with disabilities benefit from assistants to manage their daily tasks. There is constant monitoring and control of students' activities and emphasis is placed on their safety. Separate facilities for boys and girls, caring tutors, and security measures in the university guarantee a pleasant stay that allows you to concentrate on your studies and thus facilitates the achievement of your goal.
The Library
is equipped with a 64 KBPS RF link and connected to 2 leased MBPS linea dal server proxy internet BSNL, Dominio web internet, server CDNET e server Library Automation. The library is connected to the campus network which has a fiber optic backbone with several nodes. The Library has reasonable terminals to allow users to access the Internet, e-mail, and the database. More than 4000 reference works from national and international journals have been included in the field of hearing impairment, mental retardation, and visual impairment. Most magazines and books are readily available to struggling University students.
Medical Services and Health Center
Medical and health services are also provided on campus for students. There is a provision of "Sawasthya Sewa Kendra" for students right next door hostel lockdown which provides medical services to students in case of accident/emergency. Each student is insured under collective insurance.
Canteen
The Canteen is a place to refresh after long hours of study for some and a place to sample a variety of deliciously prepared dishes for everyone else. The canteen was designed with barrier-free architectural features taking into account the needs of people with disabilities. The Canteen has a lot of goodies to offer at an affordable price and it remains open on all days of the week. Great decor and appetizing food make this place a favorite among students. A canteen is also a place where students hold their birthday parties and often seek out gatherings from time to time. Filled with the exuberance of youth, Mensa has an environment that is hard to describe unless you pay a visit. The canteen accommodates a large number of students and staff.
Sport
Physical education is strongly aimed at improving the physical and mental health of the individual player. This results in the development of dynamic personalities. Sports activities and achievements have helped many people get better job opportunities. The clean area with the natural gift of fresh air is an inspiring resource, which motivates the player to perform better. Sports carry the same weight as academics. All sports activities are encouraged by making all facilities available when students participate in intercollegiate, intra-college, and other tournaments.
Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University, Lucknow accepts admission through various entrance exams like UPSEE and/or AIJEE, and/or University Entrance Examination.

To facilitate & promote studies, research & extension work in emerging areas including rehabilitation courses with a focus on visual impairment, hearing impairment, mental retardation, rehabilitation through engineering/ technology, community-based rehabilitation, rehabilitation psychology, speech & hearing, locomotors, and cerebral palsy, autism, spectrum disorder, rehabilitation therapy, vocational counseling rehabilitation, social work/administration, etc.
