Government Polytechnic Amravati is an autonomous Institute of Govt. Polytechnic, Maharashtra established in the year 1955. This institute has a long history of producing technical manpower and rendering technical services to society. Many students of this institute are chairing the topmost positions in various govt. offices and in reputed industries. Few of the students became successful entrepreneurs looking at the overall performance of the institute. MSBTE, Mumbai has awarded academic autonomy to the institute since 1995.

The ISTE of Maharashtra & Goa section awarded the institute with Narsee Monje Award in 2005 & Best Polytechnic Award in 2015. The institute has a separate trainee hostel with all facilities for accommodation purposes. The institute has a separate Library building with all equipped resources.

The Institute has one Boys' Hostel with a capacity of 167 students located on the campus of the college since 1955 The Hostel is equipped with all facilities like color TV in the common mess hall, a newspaper with stand, a large playground for a recreation of a student in hostel premises. Besides residences of the hostel for boys have been provided with a gymkhana facility with various equipped machines. A hot water facility is also provided to students through the solar water heating system having a capacity of 3000 liters for both hostels. There is a water cooler with an RO purifier for students, Boys' hostels are provided with a cooperative mess facility which is run by the student on a no-loss-profit basis.

The Institute has two Girl's hostels, one girl's hostel with a capacity of 52 started from 1996-97 and the other with a capacity of 50 girl students started from 2016-17. The Hostel is equipped with all facilities like color TV in the common mess hall, a newspaper withstand, and a large playground for the recreation of students on hostel premises. Hot water facility also provided to students through solar water heating system having capacity 3000 ltrs for both hostels. There is a water cooler with an RO purifier for students, girls' hostel mess facility is provided on a contract basis.

The college has a unique stand-alone Building for the Library with an area of 3550 sq.m with a reading space of 150 sqm. The library comprises a Library and departmental libraries that collectively support the teaching and extension programs of the Institute. The Library has got a collection of over 1lac books, journals, video cassettes, and CDs. DVDs in the fields of science, engineering, humanities, literature, and management. Operations in the library are partially computerized using the Libman software. The institute is a member of the " National Digital Library” from which one can access e-contents. Book Bank facility is available to All students. The State Ministry provides funds required for purchasing.

The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars.
