Dyal Singh College owes its origin to the extreme generosity and foresight of Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, founder of ‘The Tribune’, Punjab University, and ‘Punjab National Bank’, who willed his vast wealth in 1895 for the setting up of an Education Trust for truly secular college. Consequently, Dyal Singh College was established at Lahore in 1910. After the Partition of India, Dyal Singh College was established in Karnal and in 1952 in Delhi. It started functioning in the capital at Rouse Avenue as a constituent College of the University of Delhi w.e.f 05.08.1959 and at its present location since 16.10.1962. During 1963-1967, it functioned in 2 units from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm. The University of Delhi took it over as a University Maintained institution in 1978.

Dyal Singh College is a co-educational institute of the University of Delhi. It was established in 1959 in Delhi, India. It is a constituent college of Delhi University,[1][2] it lies on South Campus. It offers undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses in science, the humanities, and commerce. It has been ranked 21st all over India in the national institutional ranking framework in 2020. In the year 2021, it secured 29th place in the college category, while in 2022 it got 35th place. In this year according to NIRF Ranking 2023, this college secured 48th place in the category.

Computer Resource Centre:

Lab with high configuration computers and advanced audio–visual, multimedia facilities. The Labs are linked to the University of Delhi North Campus with Optical Fiber.

Library:

The Dyal Singh College Library was started with the college as a constituent college of the University of Delhi in 1959. The college library is one of the largest libraries in terms of the number of users and collections at the University of Delhi. The college library with a total collection of about 102530 books and 47 Journals/Magazines is catering to the academic needs of the students and faculty. The college library is providing access to more than 6000+ e-journals and 164300+ ebooks after becoming a member of the National Library and Information Service Infrastructure for scholarly content (N-List) program of MHRD/UGC. 

Medical Facilities:

The college spares no effort in ensuring the well-being of its students & staff members and recognizes its responsibilities towards providing timely medical assistance to the students, staff, and faculty members. Nurse on campus is available to cater to students, staff, and faculty members who report minor health-related issues and are promptly attended to as per their needs.

Class Rooms:

54 Class Rooms (including 7 Eco-friendly bamboo-based rooms, 12 PORTA cabins, and the recently constructed 3500 sqm. Science Block) and 15 Tutorial Rooms. Class rooms are airy, well-lit, well-furnished, and are fitted with specialized equipment for teaching and learning. Conventional blackboard teaching is supported by ICT aids
