Elphinstone College occupies a completely unique role withinside the annals of training withinside the country. The college has an enviable location, which is also historically significant. The building of the College with its gothic architecture, has been classified as a grade 1 Heritage structure. The College was awarded the Asia-Pacific Heritage Award for Culture Heritage Conservation, by UNESCO in 2004.

Facilities and Infrastructure

Hostel:

50 seats are reserved for boys in Government College Hostel, at Churchgate (C Road) and some other 50 seats are to be had at Ismail Yusuf Hostel, Jogeshwari, Mumbai.60 Seats are reserved for Girls at Telang Memorial Girl's Hostel.

Gymkhana:

The Elphinstone College Gymkhana presents centers for principal video games like Cricket, Football on the university playground which is a part of Oval Ground, a short distance away from the college. College gives importance to maximum participation of the students at the intercollegiate level in various games. Facilities also are supplied inside the university premises for gambling volleyball and basketball. Facilities for indoor video games like desk tennis, carrom, and chess also are made to be had for the students. Besides, the Gymkhana provides a facility of a well-equipped fitness center for college staff and all the students. The college maintains an up-to-date first aid box that includes life-saving drugs.

LANGUAGE LAB:

College has a state-of-the-art language lab to expose students to the nuances of phonetics with the use of advanced software and lingua-phones.

FILM AND MUSIC LIBRARY:

The music library is an interesting and innovative step taken by Elphinstone College. The library contains a rich and varied collection covering classics, contemporary artists with Westerns, and regional music. It serves as a meditative place as there is a special section for spa and meditation music that helps with relaxation. Elphinstone Film Society has a huge collection of films from world cinema, directors' collections, auteur, war films, classics, moderns, westerns, comedies, literary adaptations, regional cinema, and documentaries to name a few. 

FITNESS CENTRE:

Considering the trend of obesity among the young, and sedentary lifestyle causing inadequate exercise among the grown-ups, the College has introduced Fitness Centre for students and staff, including the non-teaching staff. The Centre is visited by a professional trainer to ensure optimum usage of the state-of-the-art equipment. Gymkhana Department is in charge of the Fitness Centre.

PLACEMENT CELL

In the present era of globalization, employability is the test of education. Keeping this in mind, the Placement Cell of the College works towards acquainting the students with industries that look out for graduate/undergraduate students, through workshops. Career fairs are organized regularly to help students discover various options available to shape their careers. Self-finance courses have had an impressive placement record. Different agencies like WIPRO, INFOSYS, TCS, Akademia, Career Launcher, Times of India, MET, ITHM, JET KING, and NIIT have conducted seminars to create awareness about their organization and offered placements to eligible students. Smt. R.N. Vyas is in charge and Shri. Amit Saraf & Shri. Rupesh Raut is a member of the Placement cell.
