Excel College for Commerce and Science was established in 2018, by Rengaswamy Educational Trust, with the aim of providing an avenue of learning within easy reach to the growing young population of Komarapalayam and its environs. It was a natural augmentation by SRET, for the HSC Passed-out students of the various schools inclusive of the State Board, Matriculation, and CBSE. Excel College for Commerce and Science had a humble beginning with only 180 students in its first batch of the Arts stream and 80 students in the Science stream.

Our college has accomplished spectacular growth over the last two years of its journey towards excellence in Education and emerged as a leading Higher Educational Institution in Namakkal District. The present strength of our College for Arts & Science is 1334. The College has consistently attained outstanding results at academics in both these streams.

The College is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)and accredited by the Periyar University, Salem.

Infrastructure and Facilities:

Convention Centre-

Excel Group Institutions have a well-equipped Convention Centre with a seating capacity of over 2000 persons. The Excel Convention Centre is spacious, air-conditioned, and has well a furnished Hall of 25,375 sq. ft. in an area with a stage measuring 30 x 98 ft. It has 12 fully-furnished suite rooms equipped with modern projection and audio systems, and a fully air-conditioned Mini-Hall, measuring 8,729 sq. ft. in area. In addition to a Dining Hall, and an open Car Parking Area that can accommodate 1000 cars. It provides ample opportunity for students to exhibit their talents in cultural activities.

Excel Data Center / Digital Hub-

The vast Data Center with over 50 systems provides for the convenient project work of students late into the evening. The Blade Server connects 1700 systems within the campus, and upon an application, every student is given Wi-Fi Connection on Laptops and even Mobile Phones around the clock.

Library-

The College has one of the finest central libraries in the District with an impressive collection of 43,610 books on varied topics with 10,302 titles. It has adequate reading space for students where they can study. It has over 100 journals and several subscriptions for Monthlies, Weeklies, and Dailies. These form unique educational support for undergraduate, postgraduate, and research students as well as faculty members. It has computer cataloging and online access to famous libraries in different parts of the world.

ATM-

The Excel Campus has 2 ATMs within its well-guarded compound walls for the benefit of the students, staff, and parents alike so that the need for liquid cash at any time can be met without the worry of having to carry money in one’s custody in advance. There is an additional ATM adjacent to the Main Gate of the Excel Group Institutions, to the right side, that helps to avoid rushing or having to wait in a queue.

Cafeteria & Canteen-

The Canteen and Cafeteria located at vantage points within the campus help the hostel students as well as the day scholars to purchase their emergency stationery items, soft drinks, and snacks. ‘The Food Court’ that serves international cuisines – vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian – is a treat for the palate of everyone.

Medical Aid-

The Campus has a well-equipped Clinic with a Doctor at fixed hours and nursing service round the clock. There is also a full-fledged Hospital with 200 Beds with all wellness services. There is also an Ambulance Service that offers 24-Hour Service to anyone in need within the Campus.

Multi Gyms-

Gymnasiums with a total of 42 Stations are provided in both Boys’ and Girls’ Hostels for ensuring the physical fitness of our students and also to alleviate their stress.

Sports & Games-

The Department of Physical Education plays a pivotal role in the educative process going on in the various Departments of the EGIs. Every care is taken to provide the best infrastructural facilities for physical education through sports and games such as Shuttle Badminton (16 Indoor Courts), Basket Ball (4 Cemented & Floodlit Courts), Volley Ball (3 Courts), Football (2 Pitches), Cricket (2 Pitches), and many more made to International Standards.

Transport Facility-

For the benefit of the Students and Faculty Members, Excel Institution Buses are being Operated to near and far places like Sankari, Salem, Omalur, Mettur, Tiruchengode, Erode, Arachaloor, Anthiyur, Thindal, Bhavani, Chennimalai, Edappadi, and Komarapalayam. Transport is arranged at convenient times so as to reach the campus and back home in time. For this, a fleet of 59 buses has been inducted into operation. Public Transport is also convenient and frequent as the Main Gate of the EGIs is beside the National Highway-544 between Salem and Coimbatore.

Placement-

The Training and Placement Cell, guided by a set of rules and principles, strives to maintain good relationships with industries. Preparing the recruitment schedule for the year, inviting corporations for pre-placement talks on the campus followed by final placements, and overseeing the process to its end, is the responsibility of the Training and Placement Cell. The Cell endeavors to carry out successfully all the processes methodically throughout the year.
