Fakir Mohan Autonomous College, Balasore is a leading institution of higher education in Odisha. It is a full-fledged Graduate and growing Post-Graduate College affiliated with F. M. University, Balasore. The College, initially called Baleswar College, came into existence on 6th July 1944 when the Government of Odisha established a Second Grade Arts College with 96 seats on the premises of the then Zilla School of Balasore. The Principal of the College became the ex-officio Inspector of the School. Both institutions had one Governing Body and one administrative head.

In 1946 the College became a First Grade institution and the Bachelor of Arts classes opened. Apart from passing subjects the College offered Honours in English, Economics and History. The College now had its very own Governing frame despite the fact that its Principal persisted to be the Inspector of Schools. In 1948 greater Honours topics Philosophy and Mathematics had been introduced. In the same year, Intermediate in Science was also introduced and classes were held in a separate block which was newly constructed for the purpose.

Facilities and Infrastructure

CANTEEN:

The College Canteen is a popular meeting place for students over Tea, Coffee, light snacks and cold drinks. Proper care and monitoring are carried out to ensure the quality and hygiene of the items served, as well as the moderation of prices. The College canteen has a seating potential of 50 people.

PLAYGROUND / SPORTS COMPLEX:

The College has a track record of excellence in the field of various sports and athletics. Very recently, the playground has been renovated at a cost of 70 lakhs. The playground has inner sewage for drainage of rainwater. Around the lush green playground, there is a pavement for the provision of jogging. Outdoor games, viz. Football, Volleyball, Cricket and athletics competitions are regularly conducted here.

MULTI-GYM:

The College maintains its own fitness centre. It is located inside the multipurpose hall in sports complex possessing equipment for free weight exercises, bodyweight exercises, gym ball exercises /Swiss ball exercises, resistance band exercises, resistance machine exercises and stretching exercises.

BOYS HOSTEL:

The College has a Boys Hostel within its campus to accommodate students who come from different parts of the State. The Hostel has a separate dining hall, common room and washroom area within the hostel. The rooms are furnished. The Mess is operated twice a day lunch and dinner. Wi-Fi facility is also available in the Hostel.

GIRLS HOSTEL:

The College also has a Girl's Hostel within its campus to accommodate students who come from different parts of the State. The hostel has a separate dining hall, common room and washroom area within the hostel. The rooms are furnished. The mess is operated twice a day for lunch and dinner. Computer Lab:

The Computer Hub of Fakir Mohan Autonomous College was established in the year 2000, with the sole objective of providing and promoting computer education and PCs with LCD Monitors and LAN connectivity. The Computer Hub is situated on the 2nd floor of the Bigyan Bhawan adjacent to the Language Lab of the college and provides access to the Internet to students and staff.

AUDITORIUM:

Extensively used by the students for extra-curricular activities and for hosting functions of the College,. The Auditorium with provision for Balcony seats and a green room. The college has a seating capacity of about 300 people. It has an advanced light and sound system that is managed by specially designated support staff along with the students.
