Footwear Design and Development Institute was founded in 1986 under the supervision of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India It was granted its status as "An Institution of National Importance" (INI) in the FDDI Act of 2017. FDDI has a Pan India Presence , with 12 state-of-the-art campuses scattered across the country.
