About Government College, Anantapur
On 8th July 1916, this college was started as the Ceded District College (A Second Grade College) with Sri S. E.Ranganathan as its first manager. Initially, there were 41 students, divided into the various faculties of History, Telugu, Kannada, Sanskrit and Logic in Part II. In the early years of its operation, besides the eminent Dean, Sri H. E. Ranganathan, Dr S. Radhakrishnan, a teacher of the teachers, ennobled the institution with his service as a member of staff. He worked as a philosophy tutor in college.
