About Government Degree College Porumamilla

It is a coeducational college and continues to grow in strength and academic programs. At the time of incorporation, B.A. (HEP); B.Com General was started under S.V. University of Tirupati. In the academic year, 1994-95 the science group B.Sc (BZC&MPE) courses were started. The Govt. of Andhra Pradesh with great foresight insisted on starting the restructured course to rebuild the Govt. College with a rejuvenated academic atmosphere, so we started B.Com Computer and B.Sc Informatique (MPCS) in the academic year 2008-2009.

Residential Accommodation

The hostel is on campus. 32 living rooms can accommodate 5 students in each bedroom, equipped with a desk, chair and wardrobe. There are sufficient toilets, bathrooms and washbasins with running water. There are two dining halls and a modern kitchen. There is a beautiful chapel also on campus to meet the spiritual needs of the inmates

The Library

Government Degree College, Porumamilla has its excellently equipped library housed in a second-storeyed building. It is well-ventilated and furnished with a pleasant academic environment. The library has a collection of over 10,000 books, over 100 journals, over 500 memoirs, and 4,000 back issues of magazines and CDs and DVDs.

Computer Lab

Today's requirement is computer training. Our computer lab has 49 systems and continuously provides knowledge and experience to our students. The lab is also open after school hours and offers interested students the opportunity to practice and become masters of computer operations. Students use the Internet function to download and prepare teaching tutorials and use the network for PowerPoint preparation.

Canteen

This place is very comfortable for all the students to relax for a while. Here are available not only tasty snacks but also stationery and other personal things.

Indoor games and Gymnasium

There is a provision for a gym and some indoor games items are available for the students. There is a period allotted to them, group-wise and they utilize this gym as most of the students these days try to keep their bodies fit with some light exercises. So this place is very helpful for the students in maintaining a good physique and helps in having a sound mind and healthy body.
