Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Pharmaceutical Science (GIPS) was established by Shrimanta Shankar Academy (SSA) in 2007, with the prime objective to provide the best pharmaceutical education and to promote research and development activities in the Northeastern region of India. The institute has the vision to produce world-class, competent pharmacists who will make a long-lasting impact in the field of pharmaceutical and health sciences. The institute has been ranked in the Rank-band 76-100 in the year 2021 by NIRF, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, and its B. Pharm program is accredited by NBA. In addition, the institute (a unit of SSA) is recognized by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Govt. of India, as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO). The Institute has well-equipped labs with modern equipment to give practical exposure to students. All labs are well equipped according to PCI and AICTE guidelines.

The Institute computer lab has 35 computers with internet connection as well as Wi-Fi LAN. 

Canteen:

The Institute has a spacious center that serves tea, breakfast, and snacks at reasonable rates.

A gym facility is there on the campus that students can use free of cost.

SBI ATM is there in the campus to ease the transaction of money for students and faculty members.

Large library space is there which has different reference books, novels, textbooks, biographies, and so on. The library has 40000+ volumes of books and has a reading room too which can accommodate 120 students at a time. 

Hostels: 

The hostel is quite spacious and furnished with all the basic facilities. Separate hostels are there for both girls as well as boys. A mess facility is also there for the students.

Admission:

The admission in B.Pharm/D. Pharm is based on merit in 10+2 exams along with written tests and interviews. The admission to M. Pharm is on the basis of a score on GPAT. The admission in PhD is based on an advertisement made by Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU)
