GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, popularly known as GIMSR, was established in the year 2015. It is the first deemed medical college in the private sector in Andhra Pradesh, established beside the picturesque GITAM (Deemed to be University) in Rushikonda, Visakhapatnam, with all modern amenities conducive to student learning. Today, GIMSR is a name synonymous with quality medical education which attracts people not only from Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring Telangana but also from other states across India.

Gitam Institute Of Medical Science & Research (GIMSR), Visakhapatnam GIMSR Courses are offered at various levels Undergraduate Degree i.e Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Medical Laboratory Technology, Doctorate of Medicine (MD) Respiratory Medicine Postgraduate Degree i.e Master of Surgery [MS] (Ophthalmology) and many more. GIMSR Library
Providing library facilities to the students and staff started with the introduction of academic programmes. The library activity of GITAM began with setting up a library for the College of Engineering in 1980. This was added by the library of the College of Management studies in 1988 and the library of GIFT in 1997. The need to centralise the library facility was felt to optimise resource utilisation and maximise user convenience. Accordingly, GITAM management took the bold step of constructing a massive building of architectural excellence with all modern gadgets. The central library was commissioned in 2002 and transformed into Knowledge Resource Center (KRC). The building was located at the heart of the campus overlooking the vast expanse of acres. The hillock of Rushikonda, the legendary abode of saints, surrounded by green pastures and the blue ocean, are some of the visual delights in the vast panoramic view from the library.
GIMSR Student Labs and Museums
A sure sign of any Organisation's growth is the amount of time and efforts it dedicates in keeping a track of the past activities and future plans. In a Medical College, the Labs and Museums are treasures of riches, which need to be safeguarded for the futuristic guidance of the young graduates. The specimens in the Museums provide immensely useful information for the students as do the labs where the students conduct experiments. The labs are provided with adjacent demo rooms. The College lays enough stress on upgrading the specimen collection in the Museums and Laboratories regularly. Student Labs in Medical College are well equipped with stainless steel work stations with running water, electrical and gas connections. Histology, Hematology, Histopathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Experimental Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacy Labs in the Medical College give an opportunity for the students to carry out experimental practicals.

The desire to learn will awaken a person in a right setting. A glance at the class rooms of GIMSR will initiate the desire to learn. The 5 Lecture Theatres are air-conditioned with seating capacity of 180 each are well equipped with audio visual teaching aids and e-class facilities.
GIMSR Banking facility
An extension counter of Union Bank of India is situated within the campus to cater the need of students and staff members for maintaining saving account with minimum balance. This bank offers all facilities available from any premiere standard bank of India to its customers. This fully computerized bank offers world-class services and gives the students and people in campus an ease to handle their money
GIMSR Hostel facilities
A majority of the students come from other cities and towns. Therefore, providing residential facilities becomes a prime task. GIMSR has laid out well demarcated hostels for boys and girls separately. Nurses too have been allotted separate hostels. The living conditions are comfortable to meet their requirements. Hygienic and nutritious food is provided in the Canteen. At all times safety and security of the people residing in the campus is ensured and assured. T.V. rooms and indoor gym facilities are provided.
GIMSR Food courts
At present 07 food courts cater to the needs of the students and staff on the campus. These food courts are located in different places of the campus and serve different types of food to suit the divergent taste of the students and staff:
Bheemas – Centrally located, it has a seating capacity of 200. It also serves food in the outside area for more than 200 consumers at a time. It serves two types of food - south Indian Break Fast & Snacks and South Indian vegetarian & non-vegetarian meals at subsidized prices.
Annapurna – Located near the west gate, it has a seating capacity of 250. It serves two types of food - south Indian Break Fast & Snacks and South Indian vegetarian & non-vegetarian meals at subsidized prices.
Sai Ram – This food court is located near the Gymnasium with a seating capacity of 120. It serves all types of food, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian.
Blue Bells - Located near the open air theatre, it serves different types of western food like pizza, burgers, pastries, cool drinks, etc.
Sub Way – Located in ICT building it is a franchise of subway and one of the two outlets in the city. It offers western type of food like pizza, burgers, pastries, cool drinks, etc.
GIMSR – A franchise food outlet is located near the play ground and offers western types of food items and snacks.
Coca Cola Happiness Station – A franchise food outlet is located near the play ground and offers western types of food items, snacks and cool drinks.
