Gobi Arts & Science College established in the year 1968 is one of the top-ranking post-graduate cum research institutions affiliated with Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. It is a co-educational grant-in-aid institution managed by the Gobi Arts College Council, registered on 25.8.1967 as a Society. The college was started with the noble objective of opening the doors of higher education to the poor and meritorious students who are mostly first-generation students coming from agricultural families. The college commenced its educational service with Pre-University classes, to begin, made a steady but phenomenal growth since inception, thanks to the vision and efficient strategies engineered by the management, coupled with the unstinted support of the staff, in shaping the destiny of the college. The unique philosophy and principle cherished by the Management of the college to admit students strictly on a merit basis, abhorring the concept of collecting donations or capitation fees, fully recognizing the difficulties of the students who belong to the socially and economically deprived sections of the society, has earned the goodwill of the public. The college is located on a sprawling 50-acre land at the top of the 'Silver Hills' on the western outskirts of Gobichettipalayam town, 40 km west of Erode. The institution enjoys the status of autonomy since 1987. The autonomy offers flexibility to the various departments to find the syllabi, based on the dynamic changes in the industrial and employment environment. With its excellent infra-structural facilities, the college has the cutting edge in the dissemination of knowledge and development of skills of a very high order.

There are more than 1,05,305 books and 138 National and International journals on various subjects. The college library serves the educational and research needs of the students and staff of the college. It is fully computerized with barcode facilities and has Library Management Software called "NOOLAGAM". It is own software developed by our Students. The total area of the library is 36525 sq ft. with a seating capacity of more than 700. The college has more intense of cheering and promoting the sporting courage of the student community. The Physical Education department is equipped with essential facilities, which facilitate the students to experience regular practice. The well-being of a student is associated with his or her performance in academics and offers students opportunities to develop a physically active life and sportsmanship. Utmost care is taken by the Physical education department to equip itself for the innovations and improvements effected in the world sporting.

Career Guidance & Placement Cell was established in 1993 with the noble intention of providing awareness on career choice and ensuring placement opportunities to students with all the potential skills that would enhance them to meet the demands of the organizational world. Career Guidance & Placement Cell would engage the students through a combination of classical and modern training systems that would enable the students to get acquainted with innovative technology and methodology which pave the way for them to acquire multi-tasking skills of a modern dynamic society. Career Guidance & Placement Cell is represented by Dr. P. Narendiran, Advisor, and Dr. K. Kalaiselvi, Placement Director. The cell mediates between the visiting companies and the students. It further extends its everlasting support to the former and later through several practical sessions like offering Motivational programs, Test series on grammar, Aptitude, Soft skills, Mock interview sessions.
