Gomatesh Polytechnic College, Belgaum was established in 1960 and started to get transformed in 1982. Earlier, it started with a diploma in creative disciplines with civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering. Further in the year 1985 and 1989, Likewise, many specializations got added in the proceeding years and currently, it offers around 10 specializations. Placements are provided to about 70% of the students every year.

In 2011 an esteemed organization BHEL, Bangalore conducted campus interviews not only for our students but also for the students of Belgaum District Polytechnics. About 1200 students from various branches attended and about 250 students were placed. In spite of going to higher studies about 70% of Diploma completed students we are trying to improve the Employability of diploma students by giving exposure to industrial needs, by visiting various industries, and conducting entrepreneurship development programs,
