Government College, Dera Bassi completed the NAAC accreditation process in February 2016 with a B grade, which was a significant achievement for the rural-based college. The Peer Team's assessment report gave suggestions for the further improvement of the college. Government College, Mohali is a diagnosed college, placed in Phase IV. In this regard, a massive quantity of inputs had been additionally taken from the school and college students of the Institution, and measures had been included successfully. Sports:

students participated in various games organized by Punjabi University, Patiala like cross county, athletics, and weight lifting. Manjit Singh of BA-I participated in the cross country championship organized by Punjabi University, Patiala, and won the 12th position.

Club event:

The College celebrated the Birth Anniversary of the first Deputy Prime Minister of India, S.Vallabhbhai Patel as “RASHTRIYA EKTA DIVAS” or the “National Unity Day” on 31 October. The students of Govt College Derabassi educated adult women by providing knowledge of the Punjabi alphabet at the adopted village of Dandrala.

Youth Festival:

Talent Hunt Function was held on 17th Sept. 2015 on the College Campus. Competitions were organized in Fine Arts, Rangoli, Quiz, Debate, Declamation, Poetic-Recitation, Skit, Geet/Ghazal, folk song, and Giddha. Students participated enthusiastically in all the events. College students participated in Zonal Youth Festival held at Cordial College, Sangol on 10th,11th & 12th Oct 2015. About 30 college students participated in 14 activities which includes Quiz, Rangoli, Debate, Declamation, Poetic Recitation, Photography, Music activities, and Fine Arts.

Admission

Barring students who have passed 10+2 class from PSEB, Mohali, Board of School Education Haryana, Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education and CBSE and I.C.S.E. all those students who have passed 10+2 from other states will have to furnish an eligibility certificate from the Registration Branch of Punjabi University Patiala at the time of admission.
