Government College For Women, Mandya exclusively for Women situated in Mandya a Semi-Urban city. It began as a branch of Government First grade college, Mandya which was a co-ed college in the year 1970. In the year 1971, it was bifurcated into Government College for Women and Government Boys College to accommodate the growing number of women students seeking admission. We are proud to say that it is nearing its golden jubilee celebrations. Our Institution is a brainchild of visionaries and educationalists of Mandya, prominent among them being Sri K.V. Shankaragowda, the then Education Minister of the Karnataka Government. The prime motto for founding the institution was to cater to the needs of higher education among rural women folk.
