The Government College of Education Jammu established in 1955, has been constantly moving forward. It is the only government educational institution imparting teacher education in the Jammu region. The college offers B.Ed and M.Ed (02 years) courses with an intake capacity of 200 and 30 respectively. Three-year B.Ed-M.Ed integrated course after P.G. has been started this year. Right from its inception the college has been a hub. of academic, socio-cultural, and intellectual activities. It always stood strong and high to prepare its stakeholders to embrace a broad educational outlook and is striving hard towards excellence both in human resource development and infrastructure. The college as a team consists of staff and students along with other stakeholders. It upholds itself as a model to impart social values besides teaching the learning process.

Marc21 format has been followed while cataloging the books and the process of entering data of library books continues, as every year books are added into the library.

The Government College of Education laboratory plays an important role in effective and efficient Science teaching. A major part of the time spent in learning science has to be used for Practical work either in the classroom or as a demonstration in the Laboratory individually or in groups. Science Laboratory” is needed to keep the instruments, apparatus, chemicals, and other materials safe and secure, and ready for use. Laboratories help in the sense of cooperation and spirit at competitions.

The Government College of Education department has a well-equipped laboratory with state-of-the-art computer hardware and software. The hardware includes more than 20 workstations interconnected with each other through the server. The department has all the latest teaching aids and equipment including several multimedia projectors, BandW laser printers, scanners, etc. The department has one BSNL Broadband line internet connection catering to the needs of the students and faculty members of the college. The government under the scheme NME- ICT with unlimited broadband of 512Kbps speed provides the internet connection.

Sports

The Government College of Education has Games and Sports there are games like Volleyball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Cricket, and Table Tennis. During free periods these games are played by students and teachers give them information about the rules, regulations, and techniques of these games. a) The Permanent Resident Certificate with Domicile Certificate.

b) be a permanent resident of J&K State as defined in Section 6 of the Constitution of the J&K;

c) have passed B.A./B.Sc./B.Com./B.C.A./B.B.A. from a recognized University/Institution according to 10+2+3 pattern, or an equivalent examination considered under the statutes governing the award of Degree of B.Ed.; and

d) have obtained not less than 45% of marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination in open merit and not less than 40% of marks in aggregate in any reserved category
