Govt. College of Fine Arts, Thrissur is located in the heart of the city of Thrissur, Kerala. It gives qualified wings to the youth of Kerala who aspires to a career as an artist in this world. The art institutions of Kerala were very important in the lives of many prominent Indian artists of the region. Established in 1910 as a technical trade industrial school, Thrissur College of Fine Arts takes pride of place among them. The existence of more than a hundred years has given this institution a unique character in the history of art institutions in India. As art college graduates, young people are guided to engage with the world and live life on their own terms as artists, designers, and visual strategists. It also involves the systematic sharing of professional skills to cope. Here, our students acquire the basics of artistic practice and educate themselves around the world. We offer a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) degree in three fine arts disciplines namely Painting, Sculpture, and Fine Arts. Here our students receive a solid foundation to start any college and achieve any dream goal in contemporary art practice. As a national educational institution, we offer students an affordable arts education and a lot of help and support for underprivileged students as well. It is one of the three Art Institutes in Kerala under the Department of Technical Education and is affiliated with the University of Calicut.

Facilities and Infrastructure

We have a well-stocked library with over 4000 selected art books. The book covers all important areas of art, design, philosophy, visual culture, literature - both Western and Indian, history, and contemporary theory. The uninterrupted glory of information reaches our students as they enjoy online access and state-of-the-art navigation capabilities.

We have a fully equipped computer lab. A new addition is the editing suit. We run workshops where our students can take advantage of these opportunities using different aspects of film or video making, whether it's a product or a creative piece of art. We are adaptable to any new technology that proves useful in applying our visual thinking.

Our photography studio offers students extensive professional training. They will receive all the basic technical knowledge to start their career in specialized fields of photography such as fashion photography, studio photography, product photography, etc.

We have a spacious conference hall that can accommodate 300 people at a time. The sound system and image/video projection equipment are world-class. We regularly host guest speakers and seminars in this hall.

The two-story signature building of this institution is more than a century-old colonial-style building. People recognize this college by its building and we have maintained its beauty and health all these years. We currently use it to organize student exhibitions during the school year. The end-of-year degree exhibitions are partially organized in this room. This art gallery is equipped with good display quality, lighting,  and wall space.
