Government Engineering College (GECK), Kozhikode was started by the Government of Kerala in 1999. The college started its working in 1999 in the hostel of the Government Polytechnic at West Hill. After a seven-year working in 24-July-2006 College has been shifted to its own buildings. Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan inaugurated the new block of the college

The campus is situated at West Hill and is well connected to Kozhikode city by open and wide roads, the institute campus is about 5 km away from the Kozhikode main railway station, 4 km. from the private bus terminal, and 30 Km. from Calicut International Airport

Library

The college library has a good collection of more than 25000 books in engineering and related allied fields and a collection of e-journals (550 no.’) catering to the needs of students in all branches. The central library is also having subscriptions to periodicals and hard copies of journals (both national and international). The library has a separate lending section, E-resource section, reading room, and reference section with a vast area of titles under all disciplines. All the students and staff of the college are members of the library.

Hostel

GECK has one lady's hostel with an intake of 150. The procedure for hostel admission is as per the institute norms. The students and other activities in the hostels are under the supervision of a warden.

Canteen

Our college canteen is functioning in the college for staff and students. separate dining spaces for staff and students, ergonomic seating arrangements, and clean and hygienic food at affordable prices are provided.

Admission

Candidates who qualified in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE ) and were admitted to the M. Tech. program are eligible to receive Half Time Teaching Assistantship ( HTTA) as per the rules of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
