The Government First Grade College Bannur is within the limits of Maliyuru village. Malaiyuru Village is 5 km from Bannur Municipality. The settlement is surrounded by taluks and the districts of T. Narsipura, Malavalli, Mysore, and Mandya. The settlement is surrounded by 73 villages. Maliyuru Village is 31 km from Mysore, the national heritage city, and 123 km from Bangalore, the country's capital. The college is called Government First Grade College – Bannuru because it had bad grades in Bannuru city in 2006. In 2004, the facility finally moved to the outskirts of Maliyuru village. The college is epic in the surrounding villages and towns.
The establishment was established in 1996 on the 1st. At that time, only 58 students were studying at the institute. Currently, 758 students are studying at the institute, which shows the high quality of the education of the villagers. The institute covers 10 hectares of government land. Thanks to the intelligent infrastructure, the institute has large classrooms, a computer laboratory, a geography laboratory, a mathematics laboratory, a physics laboratory, an Edusat classroom, a reading room, and a large sports field.  75% of classrooms are equipped with ICT. The institute offers Bachelor, B.Com, B.Sc, and BBA degree programs. All courses are permanently affiliated with Mysore University. The college has scientifically enriched 37 faculties, of which 20 are permanent and 17 are visiting faculties. The facility received Level B accreditation from the NAAC in 2016. The facilities excel at providing quality education to rural students, consistently achieving a 91% pass rate. The number of students in all faculties rose from 58 to 758.
