Government Law College Madurai (Tamil Nadu), was established by the Government of India to meet the long-felt needs of the southern districts of Tamil Nadu. GLC is one of the six government law colleges in the state of Tamil Nadu. Like the rest of the law colleges in the state, it is administered by Tamil Nadu’s Department of legal studies. The college is one of the premier institutions imparting legal Education in the state. The students of Government law college Madurai are provided with an appropriate atmosphere of higher judiciary around best for their judiciary approach. The blueprint of the college was prepared by the then Director of legal studies, Prof. A. Palaniswamy.

Hostel

The College has a hostel for women students are maintained by the college. The women’s hostel is adjacent to the Sree Meenakshi Government College Campus.

Library

The college has a library facility for all students. All the students of the college are entitled to use the library. There shall be a Library Committee consisting of the Principal as chairman and other members nominated from the teaching staff by the principal to look after the library. The library consists of four sections. (i) Reference section (ii) Lending section (iii) Book Bank and (iv) M.L. section

Sports

The College has adequate facilities for Sports and Games. There are playgrounds for all the important games.

Admission

The college offers admission into the three-year course of B.L., a five-year course of BA B.L., and a two-year course of M.L. with a specialization in Property Law.

The selection of candidates is done as per the academic merit of the last qualifying examination and the rules of reservation of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

To be eligible for BA BL, candidates must have passed 10+2 or an equivalent examination with a minimum of 45% marks.

For admission to BL, candidates must have completed a three-year Bachelor’s degree in 10+2+3 or 11+1+3 pattern from the Universities of Tamil Nadu.

All eligible candidates shall be allotted seats on a merit-cum-choice basis.

Admission seekers applying for the course in ML need to have a BA BL or BL degree with a minimum of 50% marks in each year of the course.

Applications shall be invited by TNDALU in offline mode and can be obtained personally or by post from the Registrar's Office of the University or from the college itself.

Admission to the BA BL and BL is done on the basis of academic merit through counseling.

The candidates shall remit application fees through remittance challan in any branch of Indian Bank.

The selection shall be affected on a merit basis as per the reservation policy of the State of Tamil Nadu.
