Government Meera Girls’ College, Udaipur esteemed as the first and the largest postgraduate college for women in the Udaipur region of Rajasthan State is fortuitous to be situated in the picturesque tourist destination city of Lakes, Government Meera Girls College, Udaipur is the biggest and top-ranking Post-Graduate women’s college in south Rajasthan. The college is named after “MEERA” who had renounced the luxurious royal life and adopted sainthood in her avowed devotion to Lord Krishna; thus symbolic of educative values of dedication, devotion, and sincerity for the attainment of life goals.

Facilities and Infrastructure

Library:

The library is an integral part of every educational institution. Meera Girls' College has an enriched library which is situated in a separate building on the college campus. It has about ten sections spread over a constructed area of 22,000 sq. ft.There are separate stock rooms for Arts, Science & Commerce faculty. Also, there are separate stock rooms for U.G.C., Book bank, Reference, Periodical, etc. In addition to this, there is an issue counter, a property counter, a librarian room, a technical room & ten small rooms for research scholars.

Sports:

The College has a sports complex – MEERA SPORTS ACADEMY which is Rajasthan’s first sports academy developed exclusively for women. The academy was established under the Society Development Programme of the college. It has an indoor stadium for sports like badminton, table tennis, etc. & a large playground for sports like cricket, volleyball, basketball, athletics, etc. Regular practice sessions are conducted here to enhance the sports skills among the students. 

Science Lab:

This state of art laboratory operational in the college provides an e-learning platform that employs computer simulations, animations, videos, etc. to impart the student experience of practical experimentation without being physically involved, as they do in wet laboratories. The virtual reality equipment creates an artificial world that is seemingly real and gives almost a realistic experience, Augmented reality; another unique technology that augments reality by blending natural surroundings with digital content can also be experienced in the laboratory. 

Rain Water Harvesting:

Rainwater harvesting systems have been installed on the college building to conserve water and utilize it to water the college lawns and recharge the bore wells in the college. Rainwater harvesting refers to the trapping and storing of rainwater to enable its use on-site whenever required. Rainwater harvesting systems are installed, on the academic and administrative block and library, in a decentralized manner. Rainwater is collected from roofs and is directed to collection tanks using channels of pipes. Thanks for the collection of rainwater designed to recharge bore wells and raise the water table of campus.

Laboratories:

Meera Girls’ College has laboratory facilities in the following subjects – Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Computer Science, Geography, Psychology, and Home Science. All the laboratories are well-equipped and furnished with computers & internet facilities. The college is having a total of 6 Computer Labs. The college has a Zoological museum well stocked with invertebrate and vertebrate specimens, herbaria, and two Botanical Gardens for Life science students.

Hostel:

The Hostel of Meera Girls’ College is the largest among the government hostels in Southern Rajasthan. It was constructed in 1966. It is situated in the Residency Camus behind Meera Girls’ College. Located centrally in the city, it is near markets, coaching institutes, hospitals, and recreation centers.
