Government Polytechnic Belgaum started functioning during the year 1958. Started with Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering at present there are 6 courses with 420 annual intake plus 25 students with disabilities under the scheme of integrating people with disabilities into the mainstream of Technical and Vocational Education. Government Polytechnic Belgaum has a team of dedicated teachers and supporting staff with whom cooperative efforts made the principal work efficiently and in a manner needed by the present competitive and challenging situation.

NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME:

The National Service Scheme unit of this College was started in 1958 and functions under the Human Resource Development Ministry of India. The objective of NSS is to create social awareness among the students and the all round development of their personality. The N.S.S. Unit of this College conducts regular and special camps, awareness classes, demonstrations, personality development programmes etc. for the volunteers. Blood donation to the needy and required patients is a laudable activity of the N.S.S. There are two NSS units in this College ( Unit 1 and 2). The volunteer strength of each unit is 100. The Government Polytechnic Belgaum NSS Unit has been twice acclaimed as the best N.S.S. Unit of the state. The benefits for the same as per the GOK rules regarding NSS volunteers will be given only to such students.

Admission to Government Polytechnic Belgaum

The common admission to 1st year Diploma for Government / Aided Polytechnics and for private polytechnics who have surrendered their seats will be conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority, Bangalore(KEA) in co-ordination with Department Of Technical Education (DTE) for the Year 2015-16. The original documents will be returned after verification, from the “Document Verification Cum OnLine Application Submission Centres/Option Entry Help Centres.For Engineering Courses: should have passed Karnataka S.S.L.C or equivalent examination by securing 35% marks in aggregate.For Sound Recording and Cinematography Courses should have passed Karnataka P.U.C- II (PCM) or Equivalent Examination by securing 35% marks in aggregate.
