Government Polytechnic College Batala has been doing its best in the sphere of technical education for the last about 59 years. This college is situated on Kahnuwan Road approx. 2 km from the bus stand about 2.5 km from the Batala Railway Station and 40 km from Amritsar Railway Station (on the Amritsar-Pathankot Rail Line) on the outskirts of the historic city of Batala (Distt. Gurdaspur). The nearest airport is Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport, Amritsar, which is about 45 Km from the college.
The first batch of students was admitted to Civil, Electrical & Mechanical Engg. in July 1964. Subsequently, four years Part Time Diploma in Civil, Electrical & Mechanical Engineering was started in July 1980. Three-year Diploma in Electronics Communication Engineering and Chemical Engineering was introduced in August 1994 and August 1995 respectively.
It has a well-planned campus spread over an area of 23 acres. The campus is equipped with Post Office, Bank Extension Counter, Dispensary, and other facilities essential for community living.
