This college was started in the year 1964 on the campus of Government Engineering College Coimbatore-43 with Civil Engineering and National Diploma in Commerical Practice for the development of women in and around Coimbatore and other places.

Infrastructure and Facilities

Library:

A Library has been functioning on the premises of the college for the convenience of students, teaching staff, and other staff. Books, on Engineering and Non-Engineering subjects, Tamil and English Dailies, and Magazines on Technology and General Knowledge are available in the library.

The library is spacious enough with good ventilation and light facilities. About 16,000 books, 5 Dailies, and more than 20 magazines are provided to the students.

Sports Facilities:

All Students are expected to make use of the facilities provided by the Department of Physical Education. Provisions are made for the following games. Cricket

Badminton, Basket Ball, Football, Volley Ball, Ball Badminton, Table tennis, Chess, Weight-Lifting, Athletics

Intra-mural sports and tournaments are also conducted. Players and Athletes are sent for IPAA(Inter Polytechnic Athletic Association) based on their proficiency. All game materials must be used with care. Any loss or breakage caused by careless handling will be charged from the individual or the group as the case may be and the cost will be recovered.

Students should wear shorts and shirts that are prescribed for each game. Dhoties and Lungies are strictly prohibited in the playground or sports field. No one should ride a bicycle or any vehicle inside the playfield. Entering the field or going across the field when the game is in progress is not allowed. The decision of referees is final when competitions or sports meets are held.

The instrumentation and Control Engineering department has been functioning since 1964. This course deals with the skills regarding instruments used in various industries.

The tasks and responsibilities of this course include designing and developing new control systems, testing, maintaining, and modifying the existing systems, acquiring .analyzing, and presenting the data, managing operations, working collaboratively with design engineers, operation engineers, purchasers, project management with more profit, low cost, and less time troubleshooting and problem-solving.
