Government Polytechnic Jammu established a Training and Placement Cell in the years 2002-2003. Its Training and Placement Cell arranges numerous campus interviews for candidates for various professions that are part of Diploma Engineering. Since the beginning, a number of students from the Institution have been employed in different industries within the State and outside of the State. Its Training and Placement Cell members are responsible for the overall management of campus interviews within the institution.
Since the launching of UDAAN in 2010 youngsters from Jammu and Kashmir have had a great chance to develop and expand their careers. UDAAN is a specific initiative aimed at connecting the ambitious and forward-thinking youth in Jammu as well as Kashmir with the very best corporations in India. As part of the Special Industry Initiative of the Prime Minister and the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) and the Ministry of Home Affairs have been given the task of working alongside the corporate sector to bring about positive changes in the skills and employment area in Jammu as well as Kashmir. This Special Industry Initiative, known as "UDAAN" targets youngsters from J&K who are looking for opportunities in the global and local markets. UDAAN therefore aims to provide the necessary skills and thus employment to 8000 youngsters of Jammu & Kashmir per annum for a period of 5 years (5x8000=40,000) in sectors that are growing rapidly. The project UDAAN invites organizations from across the country to choose the most deserving candidates for the state. offer the necessary training and then place them in their organizations or outside of it, or help them to be entrepreneurs.
