The Government College of Teachers Education at Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram is the only Government College of Teachers Education in South Kerala. The college is affiliated with Kerala University and is under the administrative control of the Department of Higher Education and Higher Education of the Government of Kerala.  The Director and Faculty are members of numerous governmental and academic bodies from the Universities of Kerala, SCERT, DIET, VHSE, KLSMA, SRC, and many other professional bodies.  Faculty members regularly interact with these institutions by providing resource support and conducting consultations. The Government High School on campus is a laboratory school. Around 20 to 25 schools are selected as model schools each year, depending on the needs of the prospective teachers. In order to organize the program effectively, the conferences of the directors of the practical schools are convened every year. Performa Evaluation is distributed to teachers interested in evaluating their students' teaching. People who are preparing for the teaching profession orientate themselves towards individual or group lessons at school.
Faculty members visit at least three classrooms for every student teacher and review learning progress with school counselors. The institution maintains friendly relations with all internship schools. The college has undertaken numerous activities for the benefit of the college community and society at large. The school receives commendable support from parent associations, alumni, professional associations, and other teacher education organizations for its institutional and community programs.
