The Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute Library & Information Services provides value-added services to their users which means the right information to the right person in the right way. GCRI library is fully automated with a barcoding facility and all hardcopy of books are laminated with plastic cover. Books & other Library materials are arranged in open access user-friendly system, DDC classification is used for classifying all the library books. Library housekeeping operation is managed through library automation SOUL 3.0 software with Web OPAC facility. The Library and Information services are situated in the GCRI new building C- Block ground floor, Room No C-51 is designed for Central Library, Room No C-52 for Computer Lab, Room No C-53 for Student Reading Room, and Room No C-54 is dedicated to the Faculty reading room.
Scope of Activity :The main purpose of the GCRI library is to support medical education, including teaching and research with a special focus on improving patient care and academic credit. To fulfill all the expectations of user groups, GCRI Library is providing various services are Digital library service, a Digital notice board, an Audio-Video facility, a Computer Lab with a High-speed Internet facility, an E-mail service, a Borrowing facility, a Current awareness service, a reprography service, SDI, Alert services, Staff Library of non-medical books, Individual reading room for facility & Students, Online databases, Reference Service, Article on request and Literature search service, Plagiarism Check, Dissertation, thesis, logbook, Publication archives, OLD bound Volume Archives etc.
Research Hub:The Department plays an important role in the collection of the Thesis/Dissertation/Logbook from the author/creator, and it organizes in a proper way, which will be a ready reference for upcoming Resident Doctors. Every financial year, all scientific clinical and research publication works to collect, compile & edit in the form of a book. For the promotion of academic integrity through the NCG platform GCRI Library support checking plagiarism activity through the use of anti-plagiarism software ‘iThenticate’.
Digital Notice Board :In Gujarat state GCRI Library & Information Services has initiated the first step to move wooden notice boards to digital notice boards for disseminating relevant and quick information to their users. The beauty of a digital notice board can disseminate easily, quickly, and attractively Upcoming events, Academic updates, Achievements, Important Messages, Office circulars, Office notices, Multimedia Videos etc to their patron.
The mission of the GCRI is to provide state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients of all types of origin and financial backgrounds suffering from cancer. Its scope also encompasses registering the tumor burden in the population, prevention through awareness drives, solving local medical problems through research and training of medical students as well as imparting knowledge to the medical fraternity.
GCRI, with a multi-disciplinary close relationship between cancer care, research, and education, intends to provide the greatest hope to the patients and the general population whose needs, we endeavor to cater to. It strives to see that the fruits of modern science reach up to the last man.
