Gujarat National Law University – Silvassa Campus (GNLU – S) has been established by resolution of the Governing Bodies of Gujarat National Law University which has been empowered under the Gujarat National Law University Act, 2003 as amended by the Gujarat National Law University (Amendment) Act, 2022. GNLU–S is being provided with full support and cooperation by the Government of Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. The purpose of establishing the GNLU – S is to further the object of the GNLU which has been provided under Section 5 of the GNLU Act which states “The objects of the University shall be to advance and disseminate learning and knowledge of law and legal processes and their role in national development to develop in the students and the research scholars a sense of responsibility to serve society in the field of law by developing skills regarding advocacy, legal services, legislation, parliamentary practice, law reforms and such other matters; to make law and legal processes efficient instruments of social development; and to promote interdisciplinary study of law about management, technology, international co-operation and development.” GNLU – S is to promote quality legal education in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu and provide the students of the UT with skill development and job opportunities.
