Guru Nanak College, Dhanbad is a Sikh minority college that was established in 1970. The college is known for its UG courses offered in the Arts, Commerce, and Education field. The admission for all the courses is merit-based depending upon the candidates’ performance in their qualifying examination, except for the BCA course, for which students must qualify for an entrance exam.
Guru Nanak College in Dhanbad (Sikh Minority Degree College) was established in 1970 by the Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee to celebrate the 500th birthday of the great Guru after whom the college is named. The College is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee in Dhanbad and is guided by the beliefs of Guru Nanak Devji.
Currently, the college is permanently affiliated with Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal College in Dhanbad in the faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, Commerce, and professional courses such as Bachelor of Computer Applications. The college has been awarded Deficit Grant College Status by the Jharkhand Government.
Guru Nanak College is Affiliated with the University of Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag, and is Recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC), and Accreditations by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
Guru Nanak College offers various courses for Undergraduate BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration), Bachelor of Arts General (BA Gen.), Certificate in Communicative English, Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.), Bachelor Of Commerce (B.Com. Hons.) Accountancy, Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), Certificate in Business Computing.

Seminar room:
On March 29, 2014, the History Department of Guru Nanak College in Dhanbad organized a national seminar on “Problems and Challenges of National Integration since Independence”. The seminar was a great success in that scholars and intellectuals from various fields came to present their views and lectures, and it had an impact on the students and participants.
The seminar was opened by Prof. Amalendu Sinha, Director, of the Central Research Institute of Mines and Fuels, Dhanbad. dr Y.D.Prasad, former Head of the History Department and former Director of AN Sinha Institute, Patna, a prominent scholar in this part of the country, delivered the keynote address and set the tone for the seminar. dr IC. Kumar, IAS (retired), Former Government Minister. From India, a well-known social scientist who has written many books on these social issues and is known for his intellectual inclinations attended the seminar as a moderator. Teacher. BB Kumar, a sociologist, and professor at Kohima College in Nagaland, made himself known through his intellectual presentation as a resourceful person.
