Gyan Jyoti College was established in 2005 under the aegis of Vivekananda Academic Foundation, a registered trust. It is the idea of ??a conglomeration of business houses and eminent individuals who wanted to bring significant changes in the educational scenario in the North Bengal region in particular and the North East region in general. Gyan Jyoti College is the first self-financing multi-faculty institution in the region. The aim of the college is to lead education by instilling certain career goals in students. It provides quality education for the overall development of students.

Campus:

The college is located on its own land with an area of ??5 hectares. The building has an area of ??60,000 square feet and contains three laboratories, two for computer science and one for mass communication. There are separate halls for boys and girls. The building has 34 classrooms that are scientifically designed so that the students sitting in the back row can hear the teacher. The rooms are spacious, airy, and long. The building also has a library with a collection of approximately 2,000 books. About 35 national and international periodicals from various departments also reach the library. In addition to newspapers and magazines, there is a large reading room. Students also have regular access to the Internet. Mass Comm. The department has a modern and well-equipped laboratory. The department has a commercial production wing and plans to produce documentaries and cartoons in the near future. Students receive in-house training in both production and business activities. The college has its own playground and well-equipped sports departments with all available sports equipment

Library:

A library is described as the "heart" of an academic institution. Gyan Jyoti College has a well-stocked and well-maintained library with many books for the academic needs of students and staff. The library is well-equipped including textbooks, reference books, journals, manuals, magazines, and newspapers. Library services include reading, lending, copier, etc. Library membership cards are issued to students and staff. Apart from printed books, the library has a decent collection of CDs and paperclips on various subjects. The library has an internet connection and students can browse the rotation.

Auditorium:

Gyan Jyoti College has a spacious seminar hall which can accommodate more than 300 students. It is fully furnished and technically updated with a modern LCD screen! OHP projector and sound system. The 35 mm screen helps to show educational films and slide shows. All seminars, workshops, presentations, etc. take place here.

Labs:

The geography laboratory is well-equipped. It has all the necessary instruments, maps, charts, rock and mineral specimens, and other accessories. Ten well-designed maps and drawing tables are provided for students to complete their laboratory assignments. The Department of Microbiology has a well-equipped laboratory with all the latest instruments and equipment. 50 students can practice at the same time. Tests are conducted under the guidance of experienced teachers. The chemistry department has a well-equipped laboratory where 50 students study at the same time. All exams are conducted by experienced teachers. The Botany Laboratory is well equipped with the latest instruments, microscopes, and equipment. In addition to Honors training, the lab enables independent research projects. All exams are conducted under the guidance of qualified and experienced teachers. The Department of Botany has taken the additional responsibility of developing a botanical garden, medical unit, and cultivation of endangered orchids through tissue culture. Gyan Jyoti College has a modern computer lab. A large number of computers in the laboratory are of the latest configurations and installed with all the necessary software required by BCA students. A high student-to-computer ratio is maintained in the computer lab so that each student can use the computer to the best of their ability.

Transport:

The college offers a bus service for students. Students board the bus at different locations and are dropped off at their destinations. The campus has a well-secured parking lot for private vehicles of staff and students.

Sports Facilities:

Gyan Jyoti College has extensive facilities for cricket, football, and other games. There are also facilities for indoor games such as badminton and table tennis. The college has a large playground that meets the needs of the students. Students are encouraged to participate in individual and team events in both collegiate and intercollegiate tournaments. It is a member of the North Bengal University Sports Council and participates in team events like Football, Cricket, Badminton, Volleyball etc. As part of sports, both outdoor and indoor games are played. An annual sports day is organized in January and February.

Cafe/Mess Facility:

The college has a separate canteen building on the campus. It has a fast-food restaurant to meet the needs of students and staff. It is kept hygienically. It is well furnished and well maintained.

Admission

Passed/appeared in 10 2 of a recognized secondary school or its equivalent grade. for B.C.A., Higher Secondary (10 2), or any other equivalent examination recognized by the University. In the 10 2 exams, preference is given to students majoring in mathematics or business mathematics or computer science or information technology applications, or information technology practices. Students who pass Commerce and Mathematics in 10 2 exams will have a preference for Undergraduate.

The college invites placement counselors to organize the selection of students from various organizations to find career opportunities. Students also receive information about higher education opportunities in India and elsewhere
