The Hindustan College of Arts & Science was founded by the late Educationist, Philanthropist and great visionary Dr K.C.G. Verghese in the year 1995. It's unit of the Hindustan Group of Institutions, affiliated with the University of Madras and is accorded the Minority Status by National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions, Govt. of India. (The College offers 17 Under Graduate courses, 7 Post Graduate courses and 3 M.Phil. and 2 PhD. Research programmes.
Started as a centre of excellence in Applied Sciences and Arts, the College was accredited by NAAC with a ‘B++’ grade and has 2(f) status. It has well–equipped laboratories for Electronics and Communication Science, Computer Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, Entomology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Multimedia, Audio and Television Production, Drawing and Graphic Design, Edit Suite and Photography.

The college has been ranked in the 88th position among the arts and sciences colleges in India. Residential Accommodation

The Hindustan College of Arts & Science has separate hostels for boys and girls with well-appointed rooms and modern amenities. The general atmosphere is very conducive for students to focus on their studies. State–of–the–art kitchen and spacious dining areas have been provided for both the hostels and a customized menu caters to the student’s needs. Hygiene and cleanliness are emphasized in the hostel. All hostels offer a variety of services and opportunities for students. Staff members residing in the hostel are responsible for dealing with student's academic and personal issues. Library

The Hindustan College of Arts & Science, Library system consists of a Central Library Departmental Libraries and HCAS BookBank which collectively support the teaching, research, and outreach programs of the Institute. All students, teachers, and employees of the Institute can use the facilities of the library by registering as a member. Besides, the Library has a huge collection of books on Engineering, Science, and Humanities through its various divisions.

Computer Lab

All Buildings are connected with Optical Fibre with Single and Multimode covering a distance of around 2000 meters. Laboratories, staff rooms, and offices are connected to the LAN and the Internet.

Availability of a personal nurse at the university campus 24 hours a day, every day.Observation room with 4 beds for the sick free medical examinations for students and staff. Indian Overseas Bank is situated within the University campus to cater to the banking needs of the students and staff. Indian Overseas Bank branch in Padur was inaugurated on 28th December 2012 in the new campus building of Hindustan University by Dr Anand Jacob Verghese, Pro-Chancellor, Hindustan University in the presence of Mr A.D.M.Chavali, Executive Director, Indian Overseas Bank, and M. K.Parthasarathy, Chief Regional Manager, Overseas Indian  Bank.

Transportation

The University is on the main arterial road to Chennai city. The University operates a fleet of 50 buses to all major locations in the city for the benefit of students and staff. University bus services are used for industrial visits and excursions. Comfortable, air-conditioned buses are also available.
