The HMS Institute of Technology was established by the H.M.S Education Society during the year 1997-98 with the aim to provide quality Technical Education. The college is affiliated with Visweswaraiah Technological University and approved by AICTE, New Delhi. The college is engaged in the promotion of Technical education for the betterment of students and society. The location of the college is in Tumkur on NH – 4, 60 km from Bangalore towards Mumbai.

The College is running hostels for Boys. The hostels are managed by a Warden assisted by a Deputy Warden. The Hostel rooms are provided with the necessary furniture. Every hostel is adequately equipped with a vegetarian mess to it. The students strictly abide by the rules and regulations of the Hostels. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited.
