Holy Cross College (Autonomous) Tiruchirappalli offers various courses except B.Ed. A need for B.Ed. was created as there were not many B.Ed. Colleges in and around Tiruchirappalli. A felt need was created by the public to begin a B.Ed. course on the same campus. So the same management started the B.Ed. course in the year 2008. Students who wish to enter the teaching profession can pursue their B.Ed. after completing their U.G and P.G Courses on the same campus. The same management runs many schools so it is an added advantage for the B.Ed. students to carry out their teaching practice and get excellent training to be an efficient and effective Student-Teacher. Holy Cross College Infrastructure and Facilities

HCCE CLASSROOMS

An ideal classroom is a positive place where a student can come to work toward specific goals set before them in the class objectives. Each classroom has been set up based on what is necessary to meet learning objectives. Each classroom is spacious, ventilated, aerated, and filled with examples of work that they aspire to do.

HCCE AUDITORIUM

Our college has a covered, spacious & magnificent auditorium (M.C Hall) with a seating capacity of 200 persons at a time for conducting various cultural events. It is equipped with a large stage, comfortable seating space, a podium, good ventilation, and aeration. Cultural events, fresher’s day functions, college day celebrations, and graduation day ceremonies are conducted here.

HCCE Laboratory

There are separate spacious and individual labs for Language, Biological Science, Physical Science, Audio Visual and Computer Science have been set up. Student-Teachers do experiments in groups with the supervision and encouragement of Teacher-Educators. This helps them to build up their understanding of the fundamentals of teaching. The experiments conducted in our labs help Student-Teachers better understand complex concepts, while also giving them the opportunity to be inquirers and enabling them to explore a world beyond books.

HCCE LIBRARY

Our College library is a rich resort of knowledge and treasure. In order to promote reading, the college organizes various festivals, displays, and activities from time to time. These include reading hour sessions, interaction with authors, author birthday celebrations, literary events, quizzes, and summer and winter reading challenges. A well-qualified librarian assists Student-Teachers with skill development. In order to attract young readers, the library space has been upgraded to create a better learning ambiance and provide adequate space with good accessibility.

HCCE PLAYGROUND

The playground is situated within the college campus.  Facilities are available to play volleyball, carom, chess, kho-kho, throw ball, and athletics, with a view to developing a sense of team spirit and encouraging a spirit of healthy environment. Opportunity is provided to all students for practice and participation in various sports events in accordance with their interests.

HCCE PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Student teachers’ Participation in physical activities shall keep them physically and emotionally healthy and fit for discharging professional responsibilities. It relieves them of the strains and boredom. To promote this, One hour a week is devoted to Student-Teachers to develop a sport. Trained Experts are involved in training students in Chess, Advance Yoga, Carom, and Volleyball. They also get guidance to improve their performance in the field and track events. Students are encouraged to participate in Inter Collegiate Competitions.

HCCE ART AND CRAFT RESOURCE CENTER

The arts and Craft room of the college is well equipped with all instruments and materials. The craft rooms are a testimony to the creativity of the students. They are beautifully decorated and display the creative skills of the students.

HCCE MUSIC ROOM

All basic musical equipment is made available to the students.  Instruments like the harmonium, tabla, sitar, and keyboard are accessible to the students. Interested students can learn contemporary dances and songs as well as classical dances.  The music room is soundproof and there is a separate resonance resistance practice room adjacent to the main room. 

HCCE Canteen

The College Canteen has been functioning efficiently from the beginning of the college. The canteen is located inside the College. It sells soft and hot drinks and snacks.

HCCE SAFETY AND SECURITY

The safety of students and staff on campus has become a high priority in the Holy Cross College of Education. The entire campus is isolated by wall fencing, well-guarded security round the clock, live CCTV surveillance for sensitive zones and fire safety equipment are available on the campus.

HCCE GARDEN

The college aims to plant floral and ornamental saplings to augment the green cover of the College Campus. The green activists and enthusiastic Student-Teachers maintain the greenery of the Campus as a mini botanical zone.

ADMISSION POLICY at Holy Cross College

Irrespective of religion, caste, and creed, eligible students are admitted to various pedagogy keeping in mind the University admission policy. The college admits only regular students and a Bio-Metric system is adopted for attendance. Once the students are enrolled the college strives for intellectual and spiritual enlightenment in the Student-Teacher, who in turn become the anchors of society empowering the youth to become socially responsible citizens. The college also focuses on the all-round formation of Student-Teacher. A candidate shall be eligible for admission to the course leading to the Degree of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) provided: Has undergone, a 10+2+3 pattern of study and passed the X and XII Examinations conducted by the respective State Board or CBSE or any other recognized Board of Education / Examination and UG Degree /Examination of the UGC approved Universities in any one of the school subjects offered by the Directorate of School Education at the Secondary / Higher Secondary Education Level.
